Chauncey Manson Jr.

CHAUNCEY D. MANSON, JR., son of Chauncey D. Manson, Sr. and Mattie Nolley Manson, entered his world on May 19, 1923 in Brunswick County, Virginia, and departed this world, for eternal rest with his Lord and Savior, on Friday October 6, 2017, in Baltimore, Maryland. Chauncey had a very adventuresome childhood, and entered the US Army in March of 1946. During his service, he received the American Theater Ribbon, the Asiatic Pacific Theatre Ribbon and the WWII Victory Ribbon. He was awarded an Honorable Discharge in 1950. After, serving in the Army, he returned to Lawrenceville, enrolling in St. Paul's College. He graduated in 1951. His wife Antionette Castielle Harrison, class of 1947 were college sweethearts. Chauncey and Antionette were married on November 9, 1948. Chauncey was a proud member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., initiated in 1954, in the Lawrenceville Chapter. Chauncey began service with the federal government in 1946, successfully moving from Camp Pickett to Aberdeen Proving Grounds, where he received many citations and accommodations for outstanding service. Chauncey retired in 1984 as a Telecommunications Specialist and Supervisor, and enjoyed over 33 years of retired life, having fun, going fishing, helping others have fun and just enjoying life. Chauncey was a DIY person, before DIY became popular, creating furniture, building decks, paving walkways and tiling floors, long before the recent popular TV shows came on the air. He was an avid photographer and videographer, taking still, film and video to capture, not just the special occasions but also the everyday regular occurrences of life. Chauncey loved people, and although he sometimes had a "different" way of showing his affection, he would go out of his way to help anyone in need. Chauncey believed in telling his friends, family and colleagues the things he thought they needed to hear to succeed. He believed in education, was quick to question, and quicker to laugh. He loved and cherished his family, and took care of us all until his last breath. Chauncey was preceded to eternal life by his wife Antionete Manson, who passed away in June of 2012. Chauncey is survived by: his son, Chauncey D. Manson III and daughter-in-law,Yvonne E. Ward-Manson; and his daughter, Amaya Ian Manson. He is survived by: four grandchildren, Nathaniel Brandon Bracey, Jeremy A. Manson, Chauncey D. Manson, IV and Owyn S. Manson; his sister, Mary Stanton and her husband, Robert Stanton; his sisters-in-law, Evelyn Bracey and Iva Eaton; devoted nieces, Melrae Scherer, and Laverne Harrison; many more nieces, nephews grandnieces, grandnephews; and a host of other relatives and friends. He will always be in our hearts...
