Charlie Alston

Charlie Alston, Jr. second child of eight, was born on December 28, 1942, in Warren County, NC, to the late Charlie Alston, Sr. and the late Mary Willie (Plummer) Alston. Charlie accepted the Lord at an early age and was called home to be with the Lord after a brief illness on Friday, July 16, 2010. Brother or "Bro" as he was affectionately known, was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System, graduating from Southern High School. After graduating. Bro began his Navy Career at Fort McHenry in 1960 and was released from active duty in 1963. He re-affiliated with the Navy Reserve in 1979. His assignments included tours of duty in several units. "Ski Charlie Alston received the following awards; Naval Reserve Meritorious Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal and an Expert Rifleman Medal. Charlie retired from the United States Navy Reserve in 1999. Charlie also had an extensive work history, which ended with him retiring from Morgan State University. “Bro” always kept a smile on his face, was always happy, cheerful and friendly. He enjoyed being with family, friends and especially enjoyed his sports. He touched the lives of many and will never be forgotten by those who met, knew and loved him. Charlie met and married the late Frances Nicholson Alston, who proceeded him in death December 2002. From this union, three children were born. He leaves to cherish his memory:Four Children, two son-in-laws and daughter-in-laws; Mark Alston (Maxine), Christine Alston Pryor (Charles),Andrew Alston (Pamela) and Theresa Alston Walton (Bruce); eleven grandchildren: Latrice, Tosha, Tyisha, Kevin, Keon, Cedric, Marquitta, Kevin Jr., Brittany, Bruce, and Emanuel; Fourteen great grandchildren; two brothers that proceeded him in death; Malachi and Marion Alston; Five sisters and three brother-in-laws; Edna Conyers(Gordon), Louise Long(William), Martha Alston, Velma Price(Ernest) and Doris Alston; one sister-in-law; Mae Alston, all of Baltimore, MD; two aunts; Dora Mae McKinnon of Baltimore,MD and Christine of Greensboro, NC; one uncle and aunt; Walter and Corene Alston, of Brooklyn,NY; eleven nieces, one in which proceeded him in death; LaSharon; seven nephews, two in which proceeded him in death Anthony & Jerome; and a host of other relatives and friends.
