Charles L. Washington

CHARLES L. WASHINGTON was the beloved son of the late Edgar Washington and the late Eloise Thompson. Charles was born in Baltimore Maryland June 25, 1937. Charles (Charlie) retired from the Baltimore City Police Department 1971- 1991. He was a foot patrol officer. He worked in the personnel division, Applicant Investigation Section, later becoming Detective Washington. His final position was working as one of Kurt Schmoke's body guards. Later he went to work with the Juvenile System of Maryland and later for the Baltimore School System, where he finally retired for good. Before working with the Baltimore City Police Department, he worked at Bethlehem Steel. Charles received many awards and recognitions too many to mention. He mentored so many people in his lifetime. There was nothing anyone couldn't talk to him about, young or old. He was so informative and wise and knew the Bible inside and out. He led many Bible studies in churches, homes, offices, parks, wherever the Word was mentioned that was his queue to jump right in. His next love in life was football! That is after Jesus, that was his first love and his family. He was forever witty, you never knew whether he was serious or not. Most people would scratch their heads and wonder about him but still got a good laugh. His friends varied from all over the United States to Canada and St. Martins where he is dearly loved and respected. Charles is survived by: his beloved wife, Barbara Washington; a daughter, Stacy (New York); sons, David Washington (Baltimore) and Brandon Washington (Florida); step-daughters, Erica and Terene; four sisters, Arnetta Howard, Doris Washington, Brenda Washington, Barbara Johnson; his sweet one and only granddaughter, Chloe; a host of nephews and nieces, cousins and many friends. His passing is such a loss for us all but those of us who know, will see him on the other side! Hallelujah Praise the Lord! This is one of his many poems … Absent From The Body Is death the closing of a book or the opening of a door, between time and eternity on some dark and silent shore. The ashes of every ending are but the seeds of something new. In the promise of many mansions awaits the disembodied you. Celebrate the Salvation of The Masters everlasting love, the precious price of paradise, paid with His unblemished blood. Death can claim no victory for the believer it would absorb. To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. There is no song of sorrow for the believer to bemoan. Just blessed rest, on Christ's breast for the soul returning home. Chaswa
