Charles R. Howard-Bey

Charles Howard-Bey, son of Annie Howard Ford-Bey and the late Freddie Howard, was born on June 21, 1946 in Baltimore, Maryland. He was called home on the morning of April 7, 2004, after a lengthy illness.Charles, also known as Ronni, Lil Ronnie, and Charlie by family and friends, was baptized in 1948 at the late Central Baptist Church in South Baltimore. He received his education through the Baltimore City Public School System, graduating from Dunbar Senior High School in 1964. Upon graduation, Charles became gainfully employed at Sparrows Point as well at the McCormick Company. Charles enlisted in the United States Army in 1973. During his time in the service, he developed a love for cooking and became chef. Upon his honorable discharge in 1977, Charles moved on to become employed at the Social security administration. Charles was a multi-talented, extremely educated man. He was always continuing his education. Always wanting more, he went back to school and began employment at City Hospital. Charles also graduated from the Baltimore School of Culinary Arts. His latest quest for knowledge led him to Tri State Trucking Company where he obtained his CDL license.Charles became a Moorish American on May 8, 1977. He worshiped under The Moorish Science Temple of Law and History up until he was called home.Charles married the former Mary Alice Chaney, and out of this union, Charles Howard II was born. He also had two daughters, Aisha and Nishee Howard, and his youngest son Devin Smith.Charles most recent endeavors included substitute teaching and speaking in the Baltimore school systems about the prevention of HIV and other communicable diseases. He was also a mentor.Charles made numerous friends wherever he went and will sincerely be missed by all that knew him.He leaves to mourn: his mother, Annie Howard Ford-Bey; two sisters, Brenda Little and Roslyn Ford; one brother, Freddie Howard; four children, Charles Howard II, Aisha and Nishee Howard and Devin Smith; four stepchildren, Shenell, Steve and Dwayne Chaney and Alvin Beasley; two grandchildren, one great-grandchild, three nieces, two nephews, three great nephews, one aunt, Alberta Brandon; one uncle, Robert Dunn; twelve step grandchildren, and a host of other relatives, family and friends.
