Charles M. LeSane

CHARLES LESANE, SR. was born on February 9, 1942 and departed this life on November 8, 2012 at Genesis Healthcare- Randallstown. He was the son of the late Derry and Louise (nee Hudson) Lesane and the late Johnson and Alice (nee Williams) Lesane, Sr. Charles received his education at Goodwill parochial School and Eastern High School in Sumter, South Carolina. Raised in a Christian home, he accepted Christ at an early age at Goodwill Presbyterian Church in Sumter, South Carolina. He later became a member of New Shiloh Baptist Church in Baltimore, Maryland. On June 19, 1965, Charles married Barbara Jean Witherspoon of Lynchburg, South Carolina. From this union, three children were born: Charlotte, Charles Jr., and Derrick. He also had a step-daughter Barbara Janeice “Neice”. Charles was employed at Wollenweber Trucking Company, Inc. as a professional truck driver. He was a devoted and dedicated employee who took pride in the fact that he worked for this one company for 43 years before retiring. Charles loved his brothers and sisters dearly and loved traveling back home to South Carolina. He was a defender of what he saw as right. Everyone who knew him knew he loved to talk. He loved big cars, big hats and fancy clothes. Charles loved being around his grandchildren and sharing his wisdom with them about life. He started a landscaping business for his sons and grandsons that continues to this day. Charles was preceded in death by twelve of his twenty-three siblings. He leaves to cherish his loving memory: a wife, Barbara Lesane; daughter, Charlotte (Demasceo) Lesane Jones; sons, Charles Jr. and Derrick Lesane; step-daughter, Barbara Janeice “Neice” Bryant; grandchildren, Ron Dee, Taneshia, Courtney, Stephon, Trevon, Derreck Jr. and Christian; great-grandchildren, Tania and Amira; sisters, Maggie L. Farrow of Chicago, IL, Katie L. Monroe of New York City, Lillie (Jessie) Robinson of Baltimore, MD, Mary L. (Ronald) Jones of Irmo, SC, and Esther L. Hubbard of Miami, FL; brothers, Adam Lesane of Baltimore, MD, Junious (Alma) Lesane of Statesville, NC, Warren Lesane, Sr. of Mayesville, SC, Carl Lesane and Benjamin (Gloria) Lesane, Sr. all of Baltimore, MD; sisters-in-law, Azalee C. Lasane of Lanham, MD, Betty Ann (Robert) Miller of Willingboro, NJ and Ida Mae Witherspoon of Baltimore, MD; brothers-in-law, Israel (Olean) Witherspoon Jr., Matthew and Johnell Witherspoon of New York City and Jimmie Witherspoon of Baltimore, MD; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
