Dr. Charles William Griffin

Dr. Charles William Griffin was born to the late James Louis and Cecelia Rita Griffin, on September 25, 1930. He departed this life from a lengthy illness on March 16, 2023. He accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior, therefor becoming a Born- Again Believer in 2019. He was married to the late Mary Rosalie Griffin. Later; they adopted a 3 month old whom they named "Chuckie" who meant so much to them. In his early education, Charles attended St. Peter Clavier Catholic School in Baltimore, Maryland. Later, he enlisted in the United States Army, where he was honorably discharged. Charles later enrolled in Morgan State University where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1958. Thereafter , he enrolled at Loyola University where he received an M.Ed. Degree in 1976. Charles enrolled at Southern University in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida where he received a Ph.D. in Education. He was a champion where education was concerned, and one of his main goals was advocating for students to reach for the highest of their educational endeavors. Charles was very active participating in his civic duties. He served on the board with Regents at Morgan State University, members of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity. President of West Arlington Improvement Association for over 30 years President of All Saints Men's Club, and presided as the Master of Ceremony on occasion for the " Moving In The Spirit" All Saints Choir Concerts: No Name Club , Philanthropist, contributor to various communities in the Metropolitan Baltimore area. He also contributed to various charities. As a result in of being involved in numerous civic organizations, Charles became acquainted with and formed friendships with political leaders such as William Donald Schafer, former Mayor of Baltimore City; Paris Glendenning, former Governor of Maryland; Kweisi Mfume, Representative (D-MD 7th District) Lewyn Garrett, Attorney; and campaigned for various political officials in Baltimore, Maryland Charles loved to entertain at his home. He would host various events and invite political leaders, friends, associates, .and siblings. He leaves to cherish his memory; three brothers Joseph Martin; Phillip Xavier (Yvonne) and Michael Ignatius (Janie) ; five sisters, Cecelia B. Williams, Theresa Booker, Carolyn L> Griffin, Patricia B. Ray (Curtis) and Angela D. Burris (Eric). Siblings who preceded Charles , include Frances J. Gross (Leo), Florence C. Lee (John) , Ann R. Lee, (Lawrence), James E. Griffin (Sandy). He also leaves a host of other relatives and friends.
