Mr. Charles G. Frazier

Charles Graddie Frazier, the oldest of three children, was born on July 17, 1927 in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Phillip Frazier from Saluda, Virginia and Bertie Mae Blount Frazier from Grifton, North Carolina. Charles departed this life after a trying illness on Saturday, December 24, 2011. His sisters, Hortense Frazier Press and Audrey Howard-Harper preceded him in death. Charles received his education from Booker T. Washington Elementary School and graduated from Frederick Douglass High School. He also attended the Baltimore Community College extended his education in a certification program for management. Charles enlisted in the United States Army in 1946. He received a Victory Ribbon, with an Honorable Discharge. He received his spiritual education from the Saint Peter’s Claver Catholic Church which he attended for many years. In later years he attended the Saint Matthew’s Catholic Church near his home. As a young man Charles strived to make a good life for himself. At the age of twenty-one he brought his first home on Parkwood Avenue. He lived there for a number of years and was a great host entertaining family and friends. In July Charles was blessed with a daughter. On April 22, 1978 he married Nancy Williams and out of this union they were blessed with his youngest daughter, Cheryl Denice Frazier who brought much joy and happiness to their lives. Charles worked with the United States Postal Service for several years while simultaneously employed by the North Carolina Mutual Insurance Company. In 1967, Charles was employed by the John F. Kennedy Institute, now called the Kennedy Krieger Institute. He retired in November of 2003 as Supervisor of Security which included managing the Housekeeping staff. Today, his oldest daughter Cynthia has also worked at the Kennedy Krieger Institute for over twenty-five years. His daughter Cheryl also joined her father in the health industry, working for Riverview Rehabilitation and Health Center. Charles was a very quiet and humble person. He was a great cook and loved eating good food. Two of his favorite pastimes were reading the paper and conversing with his next door neighbor, Reverend Edward Wilson. Charles was a GOD-fearing man who knew how to pray. Charles was blessed to enjoy his retirement with many years of good health. He enjoyed his home and would often say, “I do not miss the hustle and bustle of life.” When his wife retired, they both enjoyed home projects and eating out. All that knew Charles could attest to his unwavering good character and devotion to family. He leaves to mourn and cherish his memory: his wife, Nancy Frazier; two daughters, Cynthia E. Frazier-Greene and Cheryl Denice Frazier-Trusty; two granddaughters, Breana Nicole Greene and Kathyryn Nicolle Trusty; three sisters-in-law, Adelaide Bentley, Peggy Williams and Mildred Williams; one brother-in-law, Russell Williams and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
