Charles E. Blevins Sr.

Charles E. Blevins, Sr., son of the late William J. Blevins and the late Ethel Allen-Blevins was born on March 24, 1944 in Birmingham, Alabama, moving to Aberdeen, Maryland in his early years. He departed this suddenly on May 9, 2012 at St. Agnes Hospital after battling a lengthy illness with his family by his side. Charles was predeceased by his brother, Willie J. Blevins; grandson, Darvell Guest; mother-in-law, Ada Taylor and son, Dion Snipe. Charles affectionately known as “Daddy” received his education at Aberdeen High School, later serving in Vietnam War, receiving awards for good conduct a National Service Defense Award and a Vietnam Service Medal with two bronze stars, he was honorably discharged in 1975. Charles worked tirelessly to provide for his family, working twenty-five years at Montgomery Wards and moving on to the Vietnam Affairs Hospital where he retired after twenty years of service. On December 10, 1971 he married his soulmate, Marie where three beautiful kids were born from this union. They were able to enjoy forty amazing years together and stuck by each other through thick and thin. Charles enjoyed spending time with family and friends. His favorite hobbies were fishing, watching a good horse race and playing a good game of chess. He even enjoyed watching Tom and Jerry with his granddaughter, “Tudda.” Charles was a devoted Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother, Uncle and Friend, he will truly be missed by everyone who knew him. He leaves to mourn: his beautiful wife, Marie Blevins; five daughters, Cheryl Turner, Marie Snipe, Ida Weathers, Margaret Blevins and Desiree Wainwright; tow sons, Charles E. Blevins, Jr. and Maurice Blevins; sister, Bernice Richardson; three brothers, Jesse, Ronnie and Cedric Huff; daughter-in-law, Shanita Blevins; son-in-law, Anthony Weathers; three sister-in-law, Henrietta McCullough, Ernestine Anunihu and Ada Williamson; four brothers-in-law, Shane Richardson, Ifeanyi Anunihu, James Williamson and Ralph Taylor, Jr.; twenty-one grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren, eighteen nephews, seventeen nieces and a host of other relatives and friends.
