Charles Raymond Adams

Pastor Charles Raymond Adams departed this life on Wednesday, July 12, 2023. He was born on March 6, 1949, in Chicago, Illinois to the late Melton and Minnie Adams. He was the fourth child born into a family of eight children. Charles was preceded in death by his brother, Melton Adams, Jr., and two sisters Carolyn Jean Davis and Melody Adams. He accepted Christ at an early age, and later joined Worldwide Church of God where he was ordained as a minister of the Gospel in 1995. He served the Lord faithfully in many capacities over the years. The Lord led him to plant a south Richmond church in Richmond, Virginia, out of our way INTO HIS WAY of Grace Communion where he pastored for several years. Charles was educated in the Chicago Public School System. He graduated from Calumet High School in 1968. He continued his education attending John Marshall Law School and American Insurance Institute from 1973 to 1975, receiving a master certificate in insurance law. Later, he attended Rush University from 1981 to 1983, receiving a certificate as an Emergency Medical Technician and Electrocardiogram Technician Services. Charles worked for over thirty years in the workers compensation insurance industry as a claims adjuster and insurance law expert. He was dedicated to his craft, supervising, training and mentoring many along the way. In his free time, he enjoyed spending time with family, golf, dancing, listening to music, and playing cards. On June 20, 1971 Charles married the love if his life, Kate Gloria Lindsey in holy matrimony. To this union was born two children, Richard and Melton. God blessed this union for fifty-two years. Charles was a determined, unwavering, dedicated servant who loved the Lord and doing His will. He witnessed to anyone who crossed his path about the goodness of the Lord. Charles knew how to love and that was his greatest trait. He truly loved his immediate and extended family; he loved his friends and he loved Christ Church. Everything he expressed was done in love. Charles was a great man of God and truly was used for His service. He is survived by his devoted wife Kate, his children Richard (Nikkitta) and Melton (Lisa) and his grandchildren Arianna Adams, Dae’Vonn Wilkins, Dae’Jaah Adams, Dae’Maya Adams, Ayanna Smith, Mariah Smith, Harmoni Jamison four great-grandchildren James, Malai, Justice, Clarence. Three sisters Grace Adams, Bonnie Dow (Dennis), and Delyte Lawrence (Lynn), one brother Kenneth Adams, one sister-in-law DeHavilland Brown (Trevor), one bother-in law Oliver Davis, one Aunt Valarie Harrell, two God-daughters April Griffin, Nicole Quinn-Johnson honorary granddaughter Keondra Cousins and a multitude of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
