Charlene Ann Dyson

Charlene A. Dyson, daughter of the late Hodges A. Dyson and Charlotte A. Dyson, was born August 18, 1947 in Baltimore, Maryland. She was called home to be with the Lord on January 19, 2002. Her sister, the late Maizie Hill and brother, the late Hodges A. Dyson, Jr, preceded her in death. Charlotte graduated from Fredrick Douglass Senior High School. She furthered her education at Coppin State College where she received her degree in Early Childhood Development. In her early years she was a substitute teacher. In early 1980, she worked at Haven Nursing Home as a Dietician Aide. On February 10, 1983 she gave birth to her daughter, Kia Chenelle Dyson whom she loved and cherished all her days. She worked for the Federal Government for fourteen years. She worked as a clerk for the internal Revenue Service. She later transferred to the VA Medical Center in 1989 and held the position of Medical Records Clerk and later as a Patient Services Assistant (PSA). She was dedicated to her job. She loved helping patients in anyway possible. Whenever she was off duty she would always meet and greet patients from the hospital with a s smile and a hug.She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior at an early age. Charlene truly loved the Lord. She was a good and faithful servant. She was a former member of Lewin United Methodist Church. She joined Union Bethel A.M.E. Church on December 11, 1998 and she was a member of the Helping Hand Mission. To know her was to love her. Wherever she went she made friends easily. Her favorite hobbies were reading, bowling, dancing and playing cards with her family. Her most memorable saying was “What’s up Dirty?” She lived life to its fullest. She was a loving mother and best friend to her daughter whom she loved with all her heart. She loved sharing quality time with her sisters. She was the peace in the midst of the storm. There was nothing that she would not do for anyone. She was always willing to lend a helping hand. She shared a special love for her nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She leaves to cherish fond memories: her daughter, Kia C. Dyson, six sisters, Carolyn Y. Jones, Edna M. Bailey, Frances L. Dyson, Virginia E. Dyson, Thelma M. Daniels and Beverly A. Taylor; two brothers-in-law, Oliver Bailey and Willie Daniels; one aunt, Mae G. Cornish; two stepbrothers, Leon W. Terry and Robert Turner, Jr.; three stepsisters, Patricia Chase, Helen Williams and Noleda Smith; and a host of nieces and nephews. She also leaves to cherish her memory her church family, neighbors and friends.
