Catherine Lowery

On Monday, February 25, 2013, while Jesus was looking at all beautiful treasures, He looked down and added a special gem – our beloved Cathy. Catherine Elizabeth Lowery, daughter of the late Alifonia Jenkins and Annie M. Epps, was born on March 27, 1954 in Baltimore, Maryland. She later moved to Sumter, South Carolina and was led into adulthood by the late Sara Lemmon. She began her education in the Baltimore City Public School System, but completed her studies in the Sumter County School System in South Carolina. He was a graduate of Mayewood High School Class of 1972. She worked for many years at Bosch Industries, Sumter, South Carolina until her retirement. Catherine Lowery joined the Asbury United Methodist Church, Lynchburg, South Carolina in 1966 and received her baptism there. While a member of Asbury UMC, she spread her talents and served on many committees, organizations and groups: Adult Choir, Charge Choir, Usher Board, Kitchen Committee and the United Methodist Women of Asbury. She was the first chairperson of the Financial Committee and was the first to start an official Friends and Family Day. She was a faithful member until her illness and relocated to Baltimore, Maryland. In Baltimore, she was a faithful member of the Victory Temple Church under the leadership of Pastor Keith Carter, where serviced where held at Future Care Nursing Facilities. At Future Care, she was known by many of the nursing staff and patients and was passionately nicknames “Smiley”. She leaves to cherish her memory: her beloved son and daughter-in-law, SGT Adrian and Eve Epps of Texas; five loved and adored grandchildren, Tyshawn, Tyson, Tatyanna, Xarrick and Xavier, all of Texas; five brothers, Joseph Lemmon of Florence, SC., Laverne (Mary) Epps of Bishopville, SC., Alifornia (Karen) Jenkins, Michael G. (Amalia) Boyd I, and Charles E. (Carolyn) Boyd, Sr., all of Baltimore, MD; three sisters, Amelia Jenkins of Houston, TX., Betty Washington of Baltimore, MD., and Rose (Donnie) Boyd-Wells of Alcolu, SC.; a special friend, Ray Charles of Baltimore, MD.; nine nieces, seventeen nephews, seven great nieces, twelve great nephews, a host of other relatives and friends.
