Cassandra Cordelia Davis

CASSANDRA CORDELIA DAVIS, daughter of James Henry and Geraldine Davis, entered this life on December 6, 1950 in Baltimore, Maryland. She was peacefully called home to be with the Lord on October 28, 2005, while hospitalized at Joseph Richey Hospice. Cassandra received her education in the Baltimore City Public School System. She graduated from Western High School, and continued her education at Coppin State College. While at Coppin, she was a cheerleader and became a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. in 1971. "Cassie," as family and friends affectionately called her, enjoyed working with children. She taught students with special needs at the following schools: Alicia Crossland School #17, Robert Poole Middle School, Fallstaff Middle School, and Harbor City from which she retired after twenty-seven years of services. Cassandra was a member of New Psalmist Baptist for twenty years. She enjoyed helping and giving to others. She served as a Youth Advisor at New Psalmist Baptist Church; Youth Coordinator at Epworth United Methodist Church; Secretary and Coordinator of activities at the Robert C. Coleman Community Organization; and as a building rep for the Baltimore Teachers Union for many, many years. She was an active member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., Mu Xi Zeta Chapter, Baltimore County; Coppin State University Alumni Association; and Maryland Retired Teachers' Association, Baltimore City. Cassie will be remembered for giving of herself, unselfishly, to her family and friends. She enjoyed traveling and liked to visit Foxwood, Charlestown, Atlantic City, and Delaware Park. She had a special talent for planning, organizing and coordinating family reunions, weddings and special events. She also loved sweets! She leaves to cherish her memory: two children, Cherrese Way and Carlos Bailey; two grandsons, Chetor Carter and Camillus Jackson; her father and mother, James Henry and Geraldine Davis; three brothers, James, Jerome and Hershaw Davis, Sr.; three sisters, Shera Williams, Jacqueline Ford and Michele Baker; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy and Angela Davis; two brothers-in-law, Paul Ford and Russell Williams; one son-in-law, Leonard Way; a great-aunt whom she loved dearly, Katherine Marsh; long time devoted friend, Albert Mooney; long time devoted "sisters," Elise Collier, Janie Williams, Fabienne Randall, Roberta Johnson and Pat Thomas; devoted sisters-in-Christ, Sandra Coger, Caroline Rudolph, and Sandra Baptist; four godchildren, Nicole Townes, Babette Richardson, Nathaniel "Winslow" Williams, and Krystin Johnson; a devoted home care nurse, Janice Randolph; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
