Carroll C. Conquest

Carroll Christopher Conquest, the son of the late Enoch Conquest and Joan Marie Wright, was born on November 6, 1959. Carroll was often called Chris by close friends and relatives. He was raised in Baltimore, Maryland with his six siblings. A mischievous, yet intelligent child, Chris was always looking to learn new things and to help others. He enjoyed playing sports, but later in life developed a love for golfing. He received his primary education within the Baltimore City Public School System prior to joining the United States Air Force. As a young man, Chris married his high school sweetheart Sharon and from their union came a daughter, Talesha. While in the Air Force, the young family was stationed in Greece for several years. After leaving the Air Force, Chris continued his education by earning an Associate’s degree in Accounting from Strayer University. Chris and Sharon later divorced but remained good friends, parents and grandparents. Chris later met Gretchen, and although the two never married, they lived as one and supported each other unconditionally. Chris worked as a professional for years at several renowned financial institutions prior to his life’s journey leading him to his true calling as a part-time Consultant for the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence and a Contractual Trainer with Maryland’s Behavioral Health Administration and Penn-North Community Resource Center. Chris leaves behind a legacy which includes being a Wellness Recovery Action Plan Facilitator, a state Registered Peer Supervisor with the Maryland Addiction and Behavioral-health Professional Certification Board, and the former Director of the Baltimore Recovery Corps. He was a Peer Recovery Coach Subject Matter Expert on the Job Tasks Analysis Committee for the International Certification & Reciprocity Consortium, which developed the credentialing for Maryland’s Certified Peer Recovery Specialist certification. Chris later started the Recovery Empowerment Group, Inc., but one of Chris’ greatest accomplishments was completing his Bachelor’s degree and graduating with Honors from Strayer University. Chris leaves to mourn: his mother, Joan Wright; daughter, Talesha Conquest; grandchildren, Shinaya Jones and Andrew Tillman; former spouse Sharon Taylor; devoted friend, Gretchen Spell; sisters, Rayner Harris and Medina Wrightbrothers, Robert Knight , Juan Harris, Edmond Harris, and Timothy L. Wright; and a host of relatives and friends.
