Carrie Lee Ellerbee

Carrie L. Ellerbee, the oldest child of seven, was born to the union of the late Moses and Sadie Dingle of Summerton, South Carolina. Carrie was educated in the public school system of Davis Station, South Carolina and later attended Summerton Scotch Branch High School in Summerton, South Carolina. She became a Licensed Cosmetologist in 1955 and enjoyed many years of keeping ladies beautiful. In 1960 Carrie became a Silk Finisher at Neild Cleaners where she retired in l982. At a young age, Carrie gave her life to Christ and joined the Laura Hill Methodist Church in Summerton, South Carolina. In 1956 she relocated to Baltimore, Maryland. June 1958 she joined the Mount Sinai Baptist Church under the pastorate of Reverend J. R. Butler. She continued to serve faithfully for many years under the leadership of Pastor William Brown and the current Pastor, Reverend Ray A. Cotton, Sr. Carrie met and was united in holy matrimony to Herbert L. Daniels, Sr. of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1937. From this union three sons were born, Herbert L. Daniels, Jr., James E. Daniels (Jimmy) and Jennis H. Daniels (Danny). She later met and married Lewis Ellerbee and one son was born from this union, Charles L. Ellerbee who preceded her in death. Carrie had much love to give, so in 1987 she became a foster mother to Dwayne Dorsey who she raised from 9 months old. She loved him as if he was her own. She was a very outgoing, strong and loving person who will be truly missed by family and friends. On Tuesday, May 24, 2005, at approximately 8:20 p.m. at the Gilchrist Hospice Center of Baltimore, Carrie stepped beyond the gate where our Father claims His own. The memories we have of "Mother" will always be dear to our hearts. We rejoice in knowing that she is resting peacefully with God. She leaves to mourn, but cherish her memory and sweet spirit: three children, Herbert L. Daniels, Jr., James E. Daniels (Jimmy) and Jennis H. Daniels (Danny), all of Baltimore; one foster son, Dwayne Dorsey; three grandchildren, Charles L. Ellerbee (Dieshia), Ulysses L. Daniels and Terry D. Daniels (Aissia); five great grandchildren, Tonya Dorsey, Jayden Ellerbee, Ebony L. Daniels, Dante' Daniels and Alex Daniels; three sisters, Mary E. Crawford, of Los Angeles, California, Wilhelmenia Gilmore and Plassie Scott of Columbia, South Carolina; two brothers, Nathaniel Dingle, of Bridgeport, Connecticut, Bernie J. E. Dingle, of Columbia, South Carolina; one brother-in-law, Charles Scott, of Columbia, South Carolina; three daughters-in-law, May Conley-Daniels, Rebecca Biggers and Shelia Daniels; a devoted niece, Darlene Dunn; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
