Mrs. Carolyn A. Pompey

Carolyn Annette Pompey was born October 23, 1942, in Nichols, South Carolina to the late Kenlaw and Lefolia (Jones) Gause. She departed this life Monday, October 06, 2025, in hospice care at Harbor Hospital. Carolyn attended Public Schools in Nichols, South Carolina. She married Ervin Dock Pompey, Jr. on September 25, 1961, before moving to Baltimore, Maryland in 1967. Carolyn was employed as a housekeeper in the 1970’s at Saint Agnes Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. She was later employed as a machine operator for 19 years before retiring in 2003 from ADVO Systems located in Columbia, Maryland. She enjoyed, singing gospel music, witnessing about The Lord, crafting and spending time with family, friends and especially her church family. She joined Macedonia Church of God in 1984, where she faithfully worshiped under the pastoring of the late Bishop Geannie Perry. She then continued to serve under the leadership of Bishop Nathan Perry, Sr. until she became il. She developed many great friendships at Macedonia and throughout the Apostolic Faith Church of Grace. Carolyn made numerous friends wherever she went and will be sincerely missed by everyone who knew her. She often said, “I tried to treat everyone nice!” She developed a great friendship with the late Elder Romell Holiday in 1984 that flourished until Elder Holiday passed this year. She also had a special friendship with her sister-in-law Lillie Mae Grice that began in 1950 and lasted until Aunt Lil passed in 2023. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ervin Dock Pompey, Jr., brothers Orlee (Helen) Gause, Demary (Itleane “Kate”) Gause, Sr. both of Connecticut. Carolyn leaves to cherish her memory: four sons, Joe Kenneth (Johnnie Mae) Gause of Mullins, South Carolina, Mel Harris Pompey of Martinsburg, West Virginia, Keith Pompey of Baltimore, Maryland, Terry J. Pompey of Reisterstown, Maryland; eight grandchildren, Kevin (“Nikki”) Gause, Latarsha (Akil) Tshamba, Latonya (Robert) Harrinton, Keith Pompey, Jr., Theresa J. Pompey, Terrence J. Pompey, Faye S. Pompey, Marlayia M. (Jamel) Hicks; fourteen great grandchildren, Amaya Williams, Kaleb Tshamba, Terrel Morrison, Bashira Tshamba, Ketilyieen (“KK”) Gause, Albrie Harrington, Alyssa Harrington, Luke Porter, 5th, Honor Porter, Aaron Pompey, Carson Gause, Marcia Hicks, Elana Gist, Bre’Anna Gist; two great-great grandchildren, Jasiah White, Jahnai White; several nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
