Carolyn Celestine Griffin August 10, 1947 – February 13, 2026 With heavy hearts and deep love, we announce the passing of Carolyn Celestine Griffin, who departed this life on February 13, 2026. Born on August 10, 1947, in Baltimore, Maryland, Carolyn was the cherished daughter of the late Charles Griffin Sr. and Helen Griffin (Barnes). Born with a disability, Carolyn faced life with quiet strength and remarkable resilience. Though she experienced physical challenges, her life was a testament to endurance, deep family devotion, laughter, a little well-timed sarcasm, and unwavering love. Carolyn never married and had no children of her own, but she never lacked family. As one of ten siblings, she grew up in a lively household filled with personality and noise, and she could certainly hold her own right in the middle of it. She had a special way of observing everything, offering a look or a comment that let you know she saw more than you realized. If she was quiet, it didn’t mean she wasn’t paying attention. She was preceded in death by her parents and two siblings, Charles Griffin Jr. and Reginald Griffin. She leaves to cherish her memory her loving siblings: Linda Oliver, Jacqueline Brooks, Tony Griffin, Tyrone Griffin, Robin Allen, Charlene Wilkins, and David Griffin, along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who loved her dearly. Throughout her life, Carolyn was cared for with deep devotion by her family, and in return, she gave them a lifetime of memories. She reminded us of the importance of fighting for your own voice and living life on your own terms. She embodied patience and compassion, but she also knew how to make her point when necessary. She had a fond love for Tweety Bird and Charlie Brown, and if you knew her well, you know she wasn’t shy about it. Carolyn loved God. Around 1992, she gave her life to Christ and eventually found her church home at Greater Faith Hope Tabernacle in Northeast Baltimore under the leadership of Bishop Millard Cox. Two of her favorite gospel songs were “Oh Magnify the Lord,” and “Goin Up Yonder.” Though her journey was not without difficulty, her life reflected courage, grace, humor, and heart. She may not have traveled the world, but she left an imprint on everyone who was fortunate enough to be part of hers. Her memory will remain in our hearts forever. “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted.” – Psalm 34:18
