Carolyn Blanks Griffin

Carolyn Walker Griffin,age 59,the ninth of ten children was born to Percy and Inell Walker on June 1,1951 in Enfield,North Carolina. At a young age,the family moved to Greensville County,Virginia where she received her elementary and secondary education graduating from Greensville County High School in 1970. On December 14,1968,she was joined in holy matrimony to Raymond Lee Blanks. For 24 years,until his death on January 9,1993,Raymond and Carolyn spent time caring for family and friends. She was employed at Greenville Corectional Center for some years. Carolyn devoted her life to their daughters. They were the jewels of her life. On May 17,2003,Carolyn married Wilson Griffin who offered moral support to the family during the girl's adolescence. Carolyn confessed Christ ,was baptized and joined Saint John's Church of God in Christ and served diligently on the Usher's Board and Kichen Committee. After moving to Richmond,Carolyn began worshipping with Bread of Life Church and became employed as a Security Officer at Old Dominion Security Company. Carolyn will definitely be missed by all. Throughout her illness,her faith never wavered. She knew and often witnesses to the goodness of her Lord. She knew her help came from God. Often times when visiting her at Medical College of Virginia or St. Mary's Hospital,she would greet you with a smile and outstretched hand and offered support to us instead of us supporting her. The Lord knew her road was getting rough hills hard to climb so He called her peacefully home during the early afternoon at Medical College of Virginia,Richmond,Virginia on July 25,2010. Left to cherish the memory of her love are her husband of seven years;Wilson Griffin;one daughter,Stephie Powell and four granddaughters, who were like daughters,Stephanie Machun Powell,Altrina Latrece Powell,Amber Monique Powell,Carolyn Valencia Powell,all of Richmond,Virginia;one grandson,Larry Powell;one sister,Celestine(Ernest)Bynum,Emporia,Virginia;two brothers,Warrenton(Margaret)Walker and Raymond(Shirley)Walker,Emporia,Virginia;three sisters-in-law,Barbara Winfield,Memphis Tennessee;Patricia Neal,St. Louis,Missouri and Janice Delane,Oklahoma City,Oklahoma.;two aunts,Mary Walker,Salisburg,Maryland and Elsie Boone,Emporia,Virginia,five uncles,Grady Walker and Milton Walker,Ampertenville,New York;Albert Walker, Norfolk Virginia,Roy Lee Walker,Petersburg,Virginia and John Powell,Emporia,Virginia;one god child,Mindy Mayes,Bloomington,Indiana;nieces,nephews,cousins and other relatives to numerous to list,but never to be forgotten.
