Carolyn Felicia Wilson

The ObituaryMrs. Carolyn F. West Wilson was bon April 29, 1938 in Richmond,Virginia. She was the middle child of three children born to the late Lenora and John Glasgow. On Monday, July 7, 2008,Carolyn departed this life and went on to be with the Lord.Carolyn was baptized at Fourth Baptist Church at an early age. As a child, she was a member of the junior choir and youth usher board.As an adult,she was a member of the R.L.Taylor Inspirational Choir and Elizabeth Payne’s Church School adult class. She loved her church and continued to be an active and committed member until her illness.In 1961, she was united in holy matrimony to John S. Wilson. Together,they enjoyed a life of peace, love, and happiness until he passed. Years later, she met James Coleman whom she adored. He gave her much joy and was a very loving and committed friend until the end.Carolyn attended Richmond Public Schools and graduated from Armstrong High School. She later attended Virginia Union University with aspirations of teaching. Carolyn followed in the footsteps of many of her aunts in the field of education. She was employed with the Richmond Public School system for 32 years where she met many of her life long friends. She worked for most of those years in the Title I Reading Program at several schools to include,Reid Elementary, Greene Elementary, Mary Munford Elementary, and A.V. Norrell Elementary. She was a dedicated teacher and tough as nails. As many of her colleagues put it “Carolyn could have run the entire school.” In June 2004, she retired from the school system and A. V. Norrell Elementary.Carolyn was a loving mother, sister, aunt, daughter, wife, and friend. She prided herself in helping others and always lived by the rule of doing unto others as you would have done unto you. She was adored and known by many to include her former students who would see her out in public. They would shout“Hey Mrs. Wilson, do you remember me?” She would quickly reply with their names and the parent’s name. She never forgot the faces of her students.She was an avid Wal-Mart shopper where the employees knew her by name.She loved Shoney’s where she would have lunch with her dear friend“Woody”(Roslyn).Her biggest past time was talking to her girlfriends.She could talk for hours!She also was known for decorating her house for everyholiday.Carolyn was always sort of the backbone of the family. She was dependable and whether or not you wanted her to, she would step in and get it done. She loved full-heartedly and gave of herself with no expectations of receiving anything in return. She would never back down from a difficult situation. She was feisty and tough but respectful and most of all, respectable. In this manner one would always know that she was not to be taken lightly.Carolyn led a full and joyous life and she beamed with pride when she became a grandmother to Kennedy and Christian. She loved her grandchildren so much and they were the light of her life. She leaves to cherish her memory a loving daughter, Tara N. Robinson;sisters, Irene W. Page (Wilbur) and Johnette W. Robinson;a loving companion,James Coleman;grandchildren,Kennedy and Christian Robinson-Clarke;nieces and nephew, Sherri Page-Thomas (William),Crystal L. Page and Wilbur K. Page; uncles and aunts, Cornelius West(Inez),Rev. George West (Mary),Hattie Glasgow and Marjorie West;five great nieces and nephews and many more loving relatives and friends to include the very devoted,Roslyn Woody, Carolyn and Larry Tyler, Aileen and Ronald Coles, Irma Wood, and Martha Williams.
