“Precious In The Sight Of The Lord Is The Death Of His Saints” Psalm 116:15 Carolyn Elizabeth Foote Dunnmoodie was born in Calvert County, Maryland on March 12, 1939 to the late Blanche Elizabeth Gough and Leonard Preston Foote. Carolyn was the second oldest of five children. Carolyn was educated within the Calvert County Public School System and the Community College of Baltimore City. While residing in Calvert County, Carolyn accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her Savior. During the early 1960’s, Carolyn relocated to Baltimore in order to pursue her professional career as a licensed practical nurse. Carolyn was a caregiver and demonstrated her gift by working at Levindale Hebrew Geriatric Center and Rosewood State Hospital. Also, she provided private duty nursing care. After many years of dedicated service, Carolyn retired in 2003. In 1968, Carolyn moved to the 4200 block of Towanda Avenue. The neighbors affectionately called her “Mrs. Moody” and her grand and great-grandchildren called her “Gramps”. Her most cherished moments were spending time with her granddaughter, Alicia and great-grandchildren, Desmond and Mikayla. She was kind and very loving to everyone she met. Carolyn always greeted everyone with a warm smile and a word of encouragement. In her spare time, Carolyn enjoyed traveling, listening to music, watching television, engaging children in community activities and helping wherever she was needed. To her neighbors, she was known as “The Mayor” of the block. She spent numerous hours sitting on the porch enjoying the neighborhood. Carolyn accepted her neighbors deliveries and reminded the neighbors when the recycling or street cleaning trucks were coming. The neighbors trusted her with the keys to their homes, but most of all they entrusted her with their children. She was preceded in death by her parents, Blanche and Leonard Foote; grandparents, Emily Jane Bishop and John Parran Gough, William Alexander and Charlotte Ann Foote; loving companion, Arlene “Bob” Leach; son, Earl Sutton Foote; siblings, Elwood “Bobby” Dent, Joyce Commodore, Floramae “Bootsie” Weems; brothers-in-law, Romans Gantt Sr. and Leroy Commodore; nephews, Romans “Pow Wow” Gantt Jr., Craig “Boobie” Gantt, Samuel Livingston, Alphonso “Grandpa” Johnson, Maurien Gantt; aunts and uncles, Virginia and Albert Gough, Drusilla and Melvin Gough, Arlene and Calvin Gough, Pauline and Thomas Gough, Cornelia, Bennie, Joseph, Burnes and John Gough, Ethel and Albert Chase Sr., Thelma and Archie Foote, Glenn Foote, Mildred and Oliver Foote, Ruth and Philip Foote, Verna and Herbert Johnson, Florence and Joseph Jackson and Daniel Foote. Carolyn leaves to cherish her memory: her dedicated daughters, Berdeva Slater, Sherry Downs and Cynthia Foote; one loving granddaughter, Alicia McNeill; two loving great-grandchildren, Desmond and Mikayla McNeill; a devoted son-in-law, Charles Downs; one sister, Emily Pauline Gantt; two aunts; Eliza and Theresa Foote. special friends, Mary Bennett, Bessie Davis, Mary Hamilton, Hessie Jones, Carrie McIntyre, Delores Nichols, Tonya President, Zelda Reid and Larry Winder; godchildren, Michael Bennett, Samatha Franco Hall and Phillena Moss and her neighbors of the 4200 of Towanda Avenue. Also, Carolyn is survived by a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews which she loved them all even if she could not remember their names.
