Carolyn J. Christian

CAROLYN J. CHRISTIAN was born September 21, 1949, in Farmville, Virginia to the late Joseph and Helen Christian; and departed this life suddenly at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland after fighting complications of illnesses. Preceding Carolyn’s death, she lost her daughter, Helen “Penny” Christian and grandson, Thomas “Manny-Man” Chambers. She also was preceded in death by her siblings, William, Nannie, Sylvia, Helen, Fred and Wayne. Carolyn accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior at an early age and was also baptized at the Race Street Baptist Church in Farmville, Virginia. Carolyn loved spending time with her family, especially with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The highlight of her day was seeing her great-grandchildren and hearing them scream “Grannie, I love you!”. She was a woman of many traditions that she created on her own. At the age of 18, she introduced you to bingo. She often reminded her granddaughters that The Christian women do not cook on Fridays and Saturdays because those are our off-duty days. Every Sunday she cooked big dinners for her family, she was an awesome cook. She was the go-to person, if you needed someone to talk to, she would listen or needed a babysitter. She was considered the glue of the family. Carolyn’s house was filled with love, food, and laughter. Everyone who walked into her house was treated like family and welcomed with open arms. Carolyn lived her life to the fullest, she spoke her mind and lived with no regrets. Carolyn loved to be on the go, and it did not matter where the destination was; it could be shopping, casino, flea market or traveling to Atlantic City. She was truly a piece of heaven on earth with a smile and personality that had a lasting impression on everyone she encountered. She leaves to mourn: her daughter, Jacqueline “Cookie” Christian; adopted daughter, Precious Burrell; sister, Esther (Edward) Ross; brother, Arthur (Renee) Christian; two sisters-in-law, Brenda and Tonya Christian; four granddaughters, Jacquelyn, Kandice, Shaumeka and Carolyn; eleven great-grandchildren, Tajanay, Kamera, Kolby, Kashlyn, Michael, August, Christian, Kashiff, Jazmine, Jaxson, and Beethoven; godson, Randy Little (Ketrice). She also leaves her long-term companion of fifty-plus years, Richard Robinson; and a host of other close nieces, nephews, cousins, adopted grandchildren and friends.
