Carolyn Reese Brackett

Born in Sussex County, Virginia to the late George C Reese Sr. and Elizabeth V. Reese on August 7, 1949. She graduated high school and went on to OITC Academy and J. Sargeant Reynolds, studying accounting while working in Richmond Virginia.Beginning a corporate job as an accountant at Reynolds Metal we she worked for over 20 years. Carolyn was under the impression from medical professionals that she could not bear children, but God had other plans. Carolyn married Roosevelt Brackett on her birthday in 1976 and moved into her first home three months before her miracle child was born in December of 1978. Carolyn went on to take on seasonal then full time employment at the IRS in 1990. She retired from the IRS in 2016 and began her tax business, Brackett Tax Service where she had over 150 tax clients by 2023. Carolyn accepted Jesus Christ at an early age. She was an active member of Bethlehem Baptist Church under Pastor Victor L. Davis, then she became a deaconess with Friendship Baptist and later moved on to New Canaan Baptist Church in 2000. Continuing to gladly serve the Lord, presiding over the diaconate, finance ministry, new members ministry and creating a one woman card ministry. She ensured every member of the church received warm blessings for every occasion in their lives. Carolyn was a petite but mighty beacon of pure light providing friendship, counsel and comradery to anyone she encountered. Having a natural eye for sophisticated fashion, she always looked so sharp, coordinated from head to pretty toe. She loved studying and teaching the word, traveling with family and friends, spending time with her daughter, and most importantly, serving the Lord. Carolyn was the fifth of ten children, leaving one sister behind, Wanda Williams (Roy) the baby of the Reese family. She leaves behind one daughter, Rozetta Brackett, a special devoted friend, Paul Mallory, three devoted sisters Annie Reese, Patrica Dickson and Lunette Jones, devoted nieces Tamera and Tameka Lyons, Ebone Harris,Tanesha and Keyia Williams, a special grand niece, Erin Harris, a host of devoted cousins, Evelyn Perry, Blanche Murphy, Linda Gant and a large host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, neighbors, colleagues and clients. She will be greatly missed.
