Carole Pryor Starcher

Carole Marie Pryor Starcher, the youngest of three, was born December 5, 1962 to the late Linwood H. Pryor and late Amanda Anderson Pryor in Richmond, Virginia. She grew up in Mechanicsville Virginia, reared in a loving, nurturing home. At an early age, she accepted Christ and joined First Union Baptist Church Mechanicsville, under the pastorate of the late Reverend Dr. B. S. Giles, Sr. Carole attended Hanover County public schools, graduating in 1981 from Lee Davis High School. During her high school years, she participated in the marching band,concert band, show choir, and many other school activities and organizations. She went on to study psychology and business at J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College. On April 8, 2000, Carole was joined in holy matrimony to James (Jim) Starcher, the love of her life. From this union, Carole and Jim were blessed with a son Tristan and a daughter, Savera. Destined to work and shine, led by the example set by a strong father and loving mother, Carole was drawn to work in the field of emergency services. She served as a 911 Communications Officer for more than 35 years, receiving many accolades and commendations during her career. In 2019, she retired from the Hanover County Fire and EMS Department, but continued to work for RMC Events until recently. She enjoyed many interests and past times such as hockey, camping and fishing; cooking, sewing, crocheting, knitting, traveling and thrifting. Her favorite sports teams were the Washington Capitals hockey team, and the Dallas Cowboys. She also enjoyed volunteering and touched many lives. She was a faithful rescue squad volunteer at the annual Urbana Oyster Festival, with the American Red Cross at the Virginia State Fair,and at the Apple Blossom festival in Winchester, VA. Carole leaves to cherish her memory, her devoted husband, James L. Starcher, son Tristan, daughter Savera, foster daughter, Christine Mason, foster granddaughter Amanda Didlake (Clinton), brother, Linwood B. Pryor (Brandy), sister Faye K. Pryor; aunts, Gwendolyn A. Pitts (Ethan), Constance and Bernice Anderson; uncles Reginald, Herbert and Lewis Anderson; sister in‐law, Angie Starcher, brothers in‐law, Stephen and Robert (Veronica) Starcher; and a host of family and many, many friends, including some beloved four‐legged fur babies. ~ Wife, Mother, Sister, and Friend, Carole Marie you will remain forever in our hearts ~
