Carlene Elizabeth Grady

CARLENE ELIZABETH GRADY was born in Leland, North Carolina on December 31, 1927 to James Authur Everett and Elizabeth Weston Everett. She was the sixth of nine children. She was educated in the Leland, North Carolina Public School System. She grew up with the love of her life, Walter Lee Grady. They married on July 11, 1944. From this union three children were born, Carolyn Joyce Grady, Walter Lee Grady Jr., and Thaddious Eugene Grady. Carlene and Walter moved to Baltimore, Maryland to begin a new life and to raise their family. They were married for fifty-eight years until his death. Carlene and Walter joined Allen A.M.E. Church under the pastoral leadership of Reverend Felix. Carlene dedicated her talents and passion as a member of the usher board, steward board, stewardess board, and a member of the Missionary Society. Carlene possessed a great work ethic throughout her career. She worked at Keswick Nursing Home in the medical field. She also worked for G.C. Murphy Company in the field of customer service. Carlene retired from the Federal Government at Fort Meade, Maryland, where she worked for many years. Carlene, with her jovial personality, would light up any room she entered. Her nieces and nephews deemed her the comedian of the family. She loved to care for her family, prepare delicious meals, and share her great wisdom. She had a kind and giving heart. She enjoyed watching football, bowling, and playing competitive pinochle on weekends with her family. On April 3, 2021, she peacefully made her transition to be with the Lord and reunite with the love of her life, Walter, as well as her son, Walter Jr., and her siblings. She leaves to cherish her memory: her daughter, Carolyn Joyce Savage; son, Thaddious Eugene Grady; granddaughters, Monique Savage, Carla Stevenson, and Valerie Lott (Eugene); grandsons, Derrick Savage and Donte Miles; great-grandchildren, Kiahanna, Tyra, Caitlyn, Aaron, Dylan, and Sarai; and two great-great-grandchildren, Kayleigh and Kingston; her devoted sister, Shirley Luallen; an “adopted daughter,” Yvette Whelchel; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, family and friends
