Carl Jeron Luck

God blessed His world and the union of Augustus and Blanche Luck with the arrival of CARL JERON LUCK, on April 30, 1955. During 2012, Carl was diagnosed with a liver condition, which prompted the need for a liver transplant. While at Mercy Hospital his need became severe enough to move him to the top of the transplant list. Carl was approved for a new Liver! His transplant took place in March of 2013 and was thought to be successful. However, there were complications with rejection for over 6 months. God determined that Carl need not continue to fight the battle for life and called him to eternal rest at 3:02 a.m., on Friday, September 27, 2013. “Wimpy”, “Lucky”, or “Pop Pop”, as he was affectionately known to family and friends, was born and raised in Baltimore City, the youngest of three children. Carl attended the Baltimore City Public Schools, graduating from Douglas High School in 1973. He attended Coppin State College for 2 years, where he soon found his special gift as a “natural born salesman”. He became a car salesman at City Oldsmobile, which began the career so loved by him. He became known at numerous car dealerships “ as the man with the pretty smile”. He created a radio sales announcement slogan from his commercial “You Got Luck On Your Side!” Carl became a “ top salesman” while employed at Fox Chevrolet. His last sales were made at Northwest Honda in Owings Mills. There is so much to share about Carl. To his Family-- he was known as the “grill man”. Carl also utilized this talent soon after meeting the woman of his dreams. He managed to persuade Deborah Marshell Smith to become his wife on October 28, 1987. Carl was elated... he now was taking on the responsibility of becoming father of four lovely little girls-- Lukerra, Shamon, Keisha, and adopted daughter Janel. Soon after, Deborah and Carl increased their family by two adorable children, Kahlial and Jeron Luck. Carl first accepted Christ at an early age at Whitestone Baptist Church with the late Rev. Charles Carter in 1965. Then began the journey of Carl's walk with Christ. This journey began with giving his life to Christ under the ministry of Pastor Betty Paige Hargrove; which later led him to Transformation Church Of Jesus Christ, under the tutelage of Bishop Monroe Saunders, Jr., where he remained until his journey home. Because of their strong Christian foundation, Carl and Deborah, with their children continued serving Christ throughout their twenty-six year marriage. Carl loved to cook for his family. His favorites were grilling special dishes on his gas grill on the back porch and visits with his father and brother eating crabs. He also treasured working on special projects with his brother and sister-in-law. Carl leaves to cherish his memory: his devoted wife, Deborah Marshell Luck; daughters-- Lukerra Luck, Kahlial Luck, Shamon Ruskin, Tikisha Walker, & adopted daughter Janel Smith, & 1 son, Jeron Luck; his mother, Blanche Smith; father, Augustas J. Luck; sisters-- Gwendola Taliaferro, Nina and Sybil Smith; brothers-- Jeffrey Luck and Gregory Taylor; 2 son in- laws, Ken Glenn & Cantrell Walker; sister-in-laws,Gail McIntosh, Nancy Giles, Mary Whitehead, Deborah Dent, Charlotte Dent, Marsha Logan and Carol Waters; brother-in-laws, Floyd Taliaferro III, Gilbert, Timothy, & Andre Dent; 12 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild & a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
