Camille Louise Cox

CAMILLE LOUISE COX was born August 31, 1969 and named after Hurricane Camille, in Richmond, Virginia to her parents David Cox and Florence Cox, who preceded her in death. CAMILLE is affectionately known by her immediate family as “Meme” and “Diamond” by her friends. CAMILLE attended Richmond City School and completed Job Corps Training majoring in general studies. CAMILLE was very intelligent and was very interested in current events across the world. She could tell a person anything about what was happening around the world. CAMILLE had a bubbly, sweet, kind, and loving personality. She was naturally very friendly and helpful to almost every person she had an opportunity to meet, especially Family members! CAMILLE was self-employed and gifted in handling odd jobs such as cleaning, caring for elders, babysitting, landscaping, detailing cars, and painting alongside her brother, Joe. God Blessed the Work of CAMILLE’s hands in whichever area she allowed Him to use them! CAMILLE was affectionately known as a Street Evangelist even before she accepted Jesus Christ as her Personal Savior spreading her own words of affirmation; “If ain’t nobody told you they love you, I LOVE YOU and Jesus Loves You Too! Have a Nice Day!” MeMe was very obedient to the Holy Spirit and encouraged many people, Especially Her Family! CAMILLE was very proud of her cooking skills and enjoyed making homemade spaghetti and her specialty home fries for the family! Many have tried duplicating the recipes for both dishes, but the food did not taste anywhere as good as MeMe’s! CAMILLE absolutely loved playing “Ride the Horsey” with her granddaughter she lovingly nicknamed, Whomp Whomp as she bounced up and down on MeMe’s knees. CAMILLE was very well known in the Highland Park section of Richmond. CAMILLE was very proud of her Virginian roots and would often share with her family in Philly how they missed all the festivities at the free summertime concerts in Richmond. Although there were many times that CAMILLE struggled with maintaining her sobriety; CAMILLE trusted God to deliver her and worked hard to overcome the struggles by faithfully attending NA support group meetings, parenting classes, and life skills classes. A short time, CAMILLE became a proud member of Enon Tabernacle Baptist Church in Philadelphia, was baptized, and chased after God with all heart and strength. CAMILLE loved the Lord, attended church services faithfully, and no matter where CAMILLE was going, she played gospel music out loud on her speaker phone. CAMILLE is survived by her daughter, Diamond Camille Cox, granddaughter, Camyah Elise Drake Cox, brothers, Joseph Cox, and David Cox, sister-in-law, Marcia Cox, and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, extended family members, friends, and special sister friend, Preacher Lady.
