Bishop Calvin Monroe

Bishop Calvin Eldred Monroe, the eleventh child born to late Bowman and Josephine Monroe was born on June 5, 1945 in Baltimore, Maryland and was called home to Glory on May 12, 2012. Bishop Monroe married the love of his life, Carolyn E. Monroe on June18, 1976 and together they were proud parents to Tiffiney, Brandi, Ricky and Calvin. He was a product of the Baltimore City Public School System and soon after his high school graduation was drafted by the United States Army, where he served domestically and aboard. Calvin continued his education and received his Doctorate of Ministry from Global Bible University, Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Theology from the Virginia Seminary and College, and college, in addition to a number of certificates and professional development opportunities from Coppin College, Bay College, Baltimore School of the Bible Johns Hopkins of Management and University of Tennessee School of Business. Calvin was employed by the Armco Steel Corporation and after 28 years of service, he retired in 1996. Shortly after his retirement, as it was in his nature : “remain busy” he was employed as personnel Generalist for the Fire and Police Department under the Mayor and City Council of Baltimore City. During his time there, he became a mentor to “at risk” youth and enjoyed this work as he always had a love for children. While Bishop Monroe was an esteemed professional with notable degrees, awards, and mayoral citations for his works, his first love was his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and he was more than happy to do the work that God called him to do. In 1976, he was ordained as a Deacon at Ebenezer Baptist Church. A few years later, while preparing for his trial sermon, the Lord gave him a word “... how long halt ye between two opinions? If the Lord be God follow him...” (I in1986. In the same year Bishop Monroe founded and organized Freedom Baptist Missionary Church Bishop's Monroe most recent venture was the launch of a theological school, the Break-through Bible College and Theological Seminary at the Freedom Baptist Missionary Church. While he may not see the fruition of the school in his earthly form, he will be watching from the pearly gates. Throughout the years Bishop Monroe taught, helped and led a number of believers and ministries alike and implemented a number of ministries to encourage discipleship and help those less fortune, according to God 's Word. Bishop Monroe was known as a man of love, decency and order, who was solid in his Father's Word and ways and opened the pulpit at Freedom to a number of ministries who may not have otherwise had opportunities. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, pastor, friend, colleague,confidant and so much more to so man Calvin leaves to cherish his memory: his wife Carolyn e. Monroe, children, Tiffiney Monroe , Brandi Monroe-Brown, Joyce Culton, Mamie Jackson, Helen Fletcher, Virginia Stills, brothers, Floyd and Ronnie Monroe, his beloved grandchildren, Jason, Leah, Layla, Ricky, Mariah Chayla, Taylor and Calvin, a host of other relatives, friends and the members of Freedom Baptist Missionary Church.
