Life’s Legacy Calvin Easter, 76, of Glen Allen, Virginia, departed this life peacefully on Tuesday, March 3, 2026. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sidney Easter, Sr., and Lavinia Easter, and his brother, Thomas Moore. Calvin was born on June 19, 1949, in Norfolk, Virginia, during the season when the nation celebrates Juneteenth—a time that symbolizes freedom and resilience. Those same qualities were reflected in Calvin’s life and spirit. At a young age, Calvin moved to Emporia, Virginia, where he was lovingly raised by his grandparents. He attended Greenville Training School, where he began forming the strong character and determination that would guide him throughout his life. As a young man, Calvin joined the Job Corps, an experience that allowed him to travel, gain valuable skills, and work various jobs while building independence and life experience. Later, after returning to Virginia, Calvin began a long and dedicated career in transportation. He worked as a driver for GRTC, as well as in long-distance and local driving, faithfully serving his community until his retirement. Calvin was known for his warm personality and genuine love for people. He never met a stranger and was always ready to stop, share a conversation, and brighten someone’s day with his humor and friendly spirit. His laughter and storytelling made every gathering more joyful. Growing up near the water in Norfolk inspired one of Calvin’s favorite pastimes—fishing. Whenever he could, especially during the summer months, he enjoyed casting his line and spending peaceful time by the water. He leaves to cherish his precious memories his loving daughter, Kelly Easter Madison; his beloved grandson, Nicholas Madison; sisters, Cynthia Brooks, Veronica Moore, Victoria Simpson, Vanessa Moore, and Marie Bright (Cedric); brothers, Sidney Easter, Jr., and Brutus Easter (Martha); and his devoted and dedicated personal caregiver, Beverly I. Lewis. He is also survived by a host of extended family members, friends, and loved ones who will forever treasure his kindness and vibrant spirit. Calvin will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him. His warm smile, his playful jokes, and his heartfelt conversations will remain in the hearts of his family and friends. Rest in peace, Calvin. You showed great strength and courage throughout your life. God loves you, and so do we. Your memory will live on in the love you shared with us all.
