Britney Fernia Green was born to Rosalind Lee Shelton and Ricky Edward Green on May 28, 1986 at Sinai Hospital. She attended several schools, Baltimore Junior Academy, Mt. Washington Elementary School, Greenspring Middle School and Northwestern High School, but due to her illness, The Upton School was constant educational source.Britney has always been a very spiritual person. At the age of 9, she accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior and was baptized at New Psalmist Baptist Church by Reverend Dr. Walter S. Thomas, Sr. She continued her quest fo spiritual guidance and knowledge throughout her life.Although Britney’s life here on earth was brief, during her short stay she touched the lives of many people through her courageous and loving ways. Britney was diagnosed with illnesses that were life challenging; she received a liver transplant at 2 years of age and heart transplant at 15 years of age. Throughout the many hospital stays, health crises and trying times, Britney never complained and refused to give up. Instead she courageously accepted the burdens of her illnesses at the same time possessing amazing character and inner strength. Remarkably she was able to give comfort and strength to those around her. Britney inspired, touched and amazed family, friends and strangers. She knew that it was not the years in your life, but the life in your years. On Saturday, March 20, 2004, Britney achieved her purpose in life.Britney was a loving person. She had a strong yet gentle spirit. She was bright, funny and direct. First and foremost, Britney loved her mother. Even as Britney became more independent, she loved to spend quality time with her mother. They especially enjoyed going to plays together and being first in line for a good movie. Britney’s favorite pastime was shopping. Britney shopped at a majority of shopping Centers in the Mid-Atlantic region. When she received her license in October 2002, she was ready, willing and eager to drive without fear of hesitation. She took full advantage of everything offered to her.She always had time and a great love for children. It was not unusual for Britney to spend all her spare time with her cousins, Xenaiya and Khajia. She was even present in the birthing room at their births. Britney’s life will forever be cherished and celebrated by: her mother, Rosalind Lee Shelton; her maternal grandparents, Andrew (Pop Pop) and Ethel (Ma Ma) Shelton; her maternal great-grandmother, Ethel M. Bradley; three great aunts, Brenda Wilmore, Lacey Fitzgerald, and Shirley Shelton; two aunts, Angela Shelton and Lisa Shelton; her very close cousins, Donell Butler, Jatrea Long, Bryant Shelton, and Sandi Scott; her special friend, Kelvon Gant; her father, Ricky Edward Green ; her paternal grandfather, John Edward Green; two sisters, Alvita Haynie and Leta Jones; her brother, Elgardo Green; her aunt, Joanne Green Torry; her uncle Wayne Green; and a host of other relatives and friends.
