Brenda Miles Lee

Brenda Joyce Miles Lee, 71, of Mechanicville, Virginia, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, departed this life peacefully on Sunday February 12, 2023. Brenda was born on August 18, 1951, to the late James G. Miles, Jr. and Louise Miles Smith. Growing up in Charles City County, Virginia, she gave her life to Christ at an early age and joined Little Elam Baptist Church. Brenda attended Barnetts Elementary School and graduated in 1969 from Ruthville High School. She was an enthusiastic cheerleader throughout her high school years and also won oratorical competitions. She later attended Norfolk State University majoring in Food Science and Home Economics. Brenda had great culinary skills and always showed creativity in her attire and in her home décor. For over 40 years, Brenda was dedicated to working in the healthcare industry. She loved working with patients and developed many lifelong friendships in her places of employment. Before retiring, Brenda worked for Bon Secours Health System at Memorial Regional Medical Center. From her 1985 marriage to the late Tony D. Cosby, her only child, Kristin D. Cosby was born a year later. Brenda took great pride in being a mother and grandmother. Her grandchildren affectionately called her “Mimi” and enjoyed when she visited them in Charlotte, NC. Vacationing and spending time with her loved ones brought her great joy! In the summer of 1999, Brenda married Deacon Norbert P. Lee at Rockhill Baptist Church where she became a devoted member. She served as a Deaconess and head of the hospitality committee. Brenda was also a member of the Old Landmark Gospel Association. She leaves to cherish her memory, husband, Deacon Norbert P. Lee; daughter, Kristin D. Cosby, two grandchildren, Kynnedi and John Myles Henderson; her siblings, Doris Charity (Melvin Lane), Evelyn Giebel (Gregory), Barbara Lewis (Elwood) and Robert Miles; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Through her marriage to Norbert, she is survived by three children, Mark Lee, Tonya Smith (Corey) and Ashley Fields; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. One brother-in-law, Walter Lee; six sisters-in-law, Lillie Gaines, Ruby Jefferson (Alfred), Bettie Lee, Valerie Thomas (Haney), Sylvia Carter (Gary), Aleatha Johnson (Clarence), one aunt, Jean Law; Devoted cousin, Phyllis Archer. Brenda fearlessly battled a lengthy illness, but she never gave up hope and never stopped fighting, even until the very end. Her family is eternally grateful for how long she was able to hold on, and the memories that they were able to share because of her courage and strength! She will be remembered for her sweet spirit and bright smile.
