Brenda Grant

BRENDA GRANT was born on April 18, 1949, in Baltimore, Maryland. She was the youngest of six children born to the late Clarence and Ida Grant, nee Stevenson. On Friday evening, December 8, 2023, Brenda transitioned to life eternal. Brenda was reared and educated in Baltimore City and was a proud graduate of the Edmondson High School Class of 1967. Her Christian journey began at the historic St. Phillip’s Lutheran Church in east Baltimore where she attended Sunday school. She was baptized after completing confirmation class under the guidance of the late Rev. Francis B. Smith in 1962. She remained an active member until she transferred her membership along with her parents to the Church of the Holy Comforter in 1997. Brenda attended worship services there regularly until her health issue no longer allowed her to do so. Brenda began her employment with the City of Baltimore Health Department at the age of 18 years old and remained employed there for the next 48 years working in the area of Geriatrics. She retired on October 1, 2012. After retirement, Brenda spent time traveling with her sisters and hanging out with her close friends. Brenda was a person that one would find difficult not to like. Often soft-spoken, she could easily be the life of the party. She had a great smile and loved to laugh and tell jokes. She was also quite a dancer during her teenage and young adult days. Brenda never married or had children, but everybody’s child was treated as if they were her own. Brenda loved showering her nieces and nephews as well as the children of her friends with gifts on every occasion. It can be said that giving was God’s gift to her. While she suffered with disabilities for many years, with perseverance and self-determination, she never gave up on life. This is the legacy she leaves for us that remain. Brenda was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald Grant and Ralph Grant, and two sisters, Vivian Evans and Rosalyn Sele, nephew, Maurice Grant, and niece, Bernice Gaines. She leaves to celebrate her life and cherish her memory a devoted brother, Gerry Grant, loving nieces, Victoria Thaniel (Gary), Cheryl Grant-Johnson, Kelly Grant, Shannon Jones (Milton) and Genesis Grant; one nephew, Raphael Grant; three great nieces, Toya Thaniel, Sheena Grant, Kiera Grant; six great nephews, Marcellous Grant (Tracey), Garry Thaniel (Trae), Davon Johnson (Denita), Jamal Grant (Chasity), Jayson Jones, Malik Grant; two great-great nieces, four great-great-nephews: special friends, Joyce Mack, Flora Daughtry, and Porsha Fraser, and Tami Anderson and a host of cousins and other friends.
