Brenda Carol Peyton

Brenda Carol Lewis Peyton,the youngest daughter of the late Thurston and Evelyn Yarborough Lewis,was born February 25,1952 in Henderson,North Carolina. Brenda moved to Virginia in her early 20's,where she resided until her earthly departure on Sunday,July 19, 2009 at Virginia Commonwealth Medical Center in Richmond,Virginia. She was also preceded in death by her sister Gwendolyn Wilder,and 2 brothers Thurston"Blair" and Alexander"Billy"Lewis."Binky," as she was lovingly called by many of her family members,was a generous and quiet giver who never sought attention from other,but found great joy and satisfaction in knowing she added a smile to someone's face. Her relationship with her mother-in-law was a bond that was loving and warm. Binkie's tender voice often burst into contagious laughter as she shared funny stories about life and love. She was an avid reader who enjoyed sharing what she learned with others,especially her sisters. Her beautiful smile will be remembered by many.Brenda attended the Franklin County Schools and graduated from Louisburg High School in 1970. She continued her education and graduated from Winston-Salem State University with a B.S. Degree in Education. She was an educator for 30 years. During her tenure,she was employed by Buckingham County Schools,Charles City Schools,King William County Schools,Petersburg Public Schools,and Richmond Public Schools.At a very young age,Brenda developed a close relationship with Christ. She often quoted Psalm 23 and other inspirational readings as a source of encouragement to others. Her love of God was evident in the way she unselfishly gave of her time and resources. She was a member of St. Paul's Baptist Church,in Richmond,Virginia.Brenda leaves to cherish and treasure her beautiful memory,the love of her life,her best friend and loving husband of 26 years,Timothy Peyton of Richmond,VA;2 dear sisters,Karen(Johnny)Hardwick of Irvington,NJ and Kathy Lewis of Flint Michigan;her mother-in-law,Elizabeth Peyton of Richmond,VA;4 sisters-in-law,Katie Peyton and Andrea(Jerry)Sharpe of Richmond,VA,Joan Lewis of Flint,MI,and Alice Stewart of Raleigh,NC.;2 brothers-in-law,Donald Peyton of Columbia and Robert Wilder of Franklinton,NC;6 aunts,Jessie Clemons of Rocky Mount,NC,Hattie Perry,Novella(Odell)Branch and Etta Clemons,all of Louisburg,NC.Lucy O'Neal of Hampton,VA and Florence Stone of Orlando,FL;5 uncles;Grant Lewis,James Lewis and Nathaniel Lewis all of Louisburg,NC. and George Lewis of Winston-Salem,NC.;9 nieces,Michelle(Willie)Baker,Collette and Tonya Lewis,Donna(Earl)Goodman,Amadi,Isoke,Nichole and Johnette Peyton;five nephews,Vincent(Carol)and Darryl(LaShaun)Lewis,Jerry(Tracy)Sharpe and Devon Sharpe,and Ajuma Peyton;a host of great nephews,great nieces,cousins,other famly and very special friends.
