Brenda Alston

Brenda Alston was born on May 2, 1959 to Rebecca and Major Alston in Baltimore, Maryland. She transitioned on Thursday, July 9, 2026. Brenda received her education from Baltimore City Public School System. After receiving her High School Diploma from Lake Clifton High School, she went to school to become a Flight Attendant. After Brenda completed the program, she enrolled in the Dental Hygiene Program at Baltimore City Community College. As Brenda continued to explore different opportunities in her young career, she finally landed where her passion lied, helping others in the healthcare field. And if you know Brenda, she ALWAYS had at least 2-3 jobs. It all started with her first State of Maryland job as a Direct Care Assistant in 1985 at Great Oaks Center in Silver Spring, MD. Over her time with the State, she also worked for Clifton T. Perkins Hospital Center, Taylor Manor Hospital (now Sheppard Pratt) and the Department of Juvenile Justice in the Psychiatric/Mental Health capacity. While working for the State, she maintained part-time jobs at hospitals such as Maryland General and Sinai’s Psychiatric Units. After she retired in 2018, she continued to work jobs in private assisted living and assisting in classrooms at daycare centers as well as before and after-care programs at elementary schools. Brenda was one of the most generous souls you could ever know. Nothing like her famous, extravagant Christmas’ where everyone who entered her door left with a gift. If you’ve ever been to her home, you definitely left with something. She donated to all her family and friends’ kid’s extra curricular activities. If you had a business, not only would she support it, but also promote it. Brenda loved to host an event. Whether it was a cookout, holiday dinner, birthday parties and more. She loved life. She definitely did not leave this life without living. She had traveled across states, cruised and at every party, baby shower, concert and reunion. She was not missing an event if you invited her. Brenda was also a member of the Diamond Divaz Social Club. And we cannot leave out she was thee Ultimate, Die-hard, Ravens fan! She was preceded in death by her mother, Rebecca Alston, father, Major Alston, son Jonez Johnson Sr. and brother, Anthony Alston. Brenda leaves to cherish her memory: loving daughter, Latrice Byrd; son in law Ronald Byrd; two grandsons Jonez Johnson Jr and Dylan Byrd; sisters Otisher Baker, Gloria Warner, Janis Reynolds, Lenice Alston, Teresa Alston; brother, Isiah Malone as well as a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, cousins, her Zone 18 family and friends.
