“And God shall wipe all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death; neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain; for the former things are passed away; Rev. 21:4Birdella Elizabeth Carter affectingly known as “Aunt Bert” was called by the Almighty God in his wise and divine providence from labor to reward, a loving wife, mother and friend who departed this life November 21, 2001. Birdell, was born in Baltimore, Maryland on June 10, 1926 to the late Charles Wells and Sarah Johnson. Birdella was educated in the Baltimore City Public School Systems. Raised in South Baltimore, she immediately after graduation became gainfully employed at the Holtite Rubber Company where she diligently worked for over twenty-five years. She later worked for the Baltimore Public school Food Service Department. Retiring June, 1991 after twenty years of service.Birdella accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and became a dedicated member of the Shiloh Church Family. On the first Sunday of May 1960, under the leadership of the late Rev. Dr. George W. Baynard. Bert loved God, her church her family and members of the Sanctuary choir whom she considered her extended family. She served faithfully as President of this choir for over fifteen years. She was later named the “Mother of the Choir”. Birdella was a stern, but loving individual whom encouraged and motivated many of the men and women who have remained steadfast in the service of the Lord. On October 1, 1960 she married Ernest Carter, the two began a joint Christian life together, they were a dedicated couple who always loved and supported each other. She leaves to cherish her memories a loving and devoted husband, Ernest, one son, John S. Cunningham; one grandson, Jason; a daughter-in-law, Ruth; a devoted nephew and niece, Gary and Avis Winder, four godchildren, Lavell Ferges, Denise Brown, Rodney Hale and Hope Jackson; two-life long friends, Rosa Lee Hasty and Bessie Ward and a host of cousins, extended church nieces and nephews.We loved you oh!
