Beverly L. Castle Toles

BEVERLY LEVERNE CASTLE-TOLES was born to the late Elmore and Mable (Smith) Rembert on May 24, 1958, in Baltimore, Maryland. With the wind she took flight to enter into eternal peace on September 16, 2025. Affectionately known as Bell to family, friends, and neighbors. Bell was known for her warm personality, quick wit and vast knowledge of everything in Baltimore. She could hold a conversation with anyone and was always willing to assist. Born into a large family of eight children she learned early the value of helping others and sharing resources. Bell was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System and a proud 1976 graduate of Edmondson High School. After graduating Bell enlisted in the military and served briefly in the army leaving to care for her expanding family. Bell continued her education completing many programs focused on providing nursing care to the elderly. She obtained her CNA and worked at many health care institutions, and private duty agencies providing loving care to all her patients. Upon retirement, Bell continued to assist family, friends and provided nursing care/ assistance without monetary compensation. Bell was an advocate for everyone—one call and she was on her way to plead your case, bring supplies, offer encouragement, or just simply be present and offer comfort. She had a special love for the youth and enjoyed sharing her life story and mentoring young men to develop life skills. Bell was baptized at Browns Memorial Baptist Church at a young age. She was a member of Browns Memorial Baptist church and Ark Baptist Church Baltimore. Later Bell joined Mt. Olive Baptist Church of Turner Station under the leadership of Elder Rashad Singletary. She was an active member of the ushers, health, and community outreach ministries readily assisting whenever called upon for any tasks. Her ministry extended beyond the church, and she enjoyed sharing her testimonial with people she met at the store, on the corner and experiencing challenges. Her favorite scripture was Isiah 54;17 “No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn”. On May 19, 2019, she was united in holy matrimony to Sylvester Toles. This union blended their family. They enjoyed traveling and just spending time with each other, going to the movies, hanging out at the flea market, dancing, and traveling . Bell was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend. She is survived by her spouse, Sylvester Toles; daughters, Teonya Castle, Lavette Watson, Myeisha Castle; son, Terry Shelly; adopted son, Joey Debnam; grandchildren, Tyia Marshall, Dawone’ Castle, John Castle, Laniyah Castle, Jalen Levy, Lanira Levy, Peyton Levy; great-grandchild, Dynver Castle; sisters, Janie Harding of NC, Deborah Rembert, Gail (David) Cook; brother-in- law, William (Alice) Toles; sister-in-law, Shirley Carter; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, long-term friend, Donald Castle Sr.; Goddaughter, Valerie Jackson and fur babies, Sadie and Riley; sons, Donald Keith Castle Jr. and Kevan Fletcher; brothers, Elmore Rembert and Marcus Rembert; sister, Vivian Anderson preceded her in death.
