Living in Grace Forever Loved The Legacy of Beverly Patricia Swinson (Williams) Beverly Patricia Williams was born on February 3, 1959, in Richmond, Virginia, to the late James and Birlene M. Williams. From the very beginning, Beverly entered the world with unmistakable flair, confidence, and a personality big enough to light up any room. Known affectionately as Belu and Baby Boo, she lived life with style, laughter, and just the right amount of attitude. On Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at the age of 66, Beverly answered God’s call and transitioned peacefully into eternal rest. We imagine her making a joyful entrance into heaven—stylish as ever—two-stepping to “Can’t Stay Too Long” by King George, smiling wide, and greeting everyone like she always did. Beverly never met a stranger—only friends she hadn’t laughed with yet. Beverly was the definition of love in action: a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and irreplaceable friend. Wherever she went, love followed—and usually laughter wasn’t far behind. She was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Birlene Williams; her husband, Kenneth Gordon; her sister, Cynthia “Candy” Ruffin; and cherished cousins Rose Marie Manning and Bernell Houston—surely already waiting to welcome her home with open arms, big smiles, and a few inside jokes. A proud graduate of Richmond Public Schools, Beverly attended Thomas Jefferson High School and later earned her CDL. She worked for the Richmond Public Schools Transportation Department, where she was widely known as the best driver you could ever ride with. Beverly took special pride in transporting Special Education students, loving them deeply and protecting them fiercely—those children held a very special place in her heart. Beverly accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Moore Street Baptist Church. She later joined Mosby Memorial Baptist Church to remain close to family. While she loved Sunday service, the Mass Choir on fourth Sundays truly had her heart. If shopping were an Olympic sport, Beverly would have brought home multiple gold medals. Even now, packages may still be en route. QVC, HSN, online hair boutiques—she supported them all faithfully. When she wasn’t shopping, she enjoyed Tyler Perry movies, keeping up with her CBS soap operas (Channel 6—don’t get it twisted), or fully locked into the Lifetime Channel. Bingo nights were serious business (and loudly celebrated) alongside Kim. She frequently tried new restaurants with Woosey and her girlfriends, and listened to good music with her sons. As the ultimate hip auntie and cousin, Beverly knew how to turn up properly, first to arrive, last to leave, and never late for a good time. She loved her people deeply and treasured every moment spent with her grandchildren. Family meant everything to her. Even before God called her home, Beverly made sure her coworkers received Christmas gifts before winter break, because giving was simply who she was. You’d often find her dressed to the nines, rocking the latest fashion, smiling ear to ear, with her favorite cocktail in hand, enjoying life, because to Beverly, life truly was good. Known for her grace, confidence, and undeniable style (just like her mama, Birlene), Beverly loved her hats, purses, trips, and looks, a true fashionista. Always fly. Always confident. She leaves to cherish her memory her loving family: her brothers Harold “Peanut” (Debra “Ann”), James “Twinkle” (Carolyn), and Keith “Keithy” (Tammiezay “Tammie”) Williams; her daughter Tiffany “Woosey” Williams; her sons Carlish “Short Stop” Swinson, Dwight “D’Wikee” Swinson Sr. (Tasha “T-Mac”), Dwayne “Weezy F Baby” Swinson, and Roger “Lil Rog” Swinson; along with a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, and lifelong friends who will forever feel her absence. Among them are Uncle Linwood “Turkey” Manning, devoted Aunt Rosebud Houston, compassionate sister-in-love Addie “Lois” Swinson, selfless mother-in-love Mrs. Addie M. Swinson, loving granddaughter Brittany K. Battle, and dedicated friend Kenneth Jones. Forever, we'll remember Beverly’s laughter, love, style, and spirit, which will never be forgotten. She lived out loud, loved unapologetically, and left her mark on every heart she touched. Heaven just got a whole lot more fashionable, and a whole lot more fun.
