Betty Dixon Knox

BETTY DIXON KNOX, was born Betty Jean Dixon to the late Mabel and John Dixon on April 1, 1959 in Baltimore, Maryland. Betty was one 12 Children. She received her education in the Baltimore City Public School System and graduated from Lake Clifton High School. She went on to further her education at the Community College of Baltimore where received her degree. Betty held several jobs before settling into her career with the Division of Corrections within the Department of Public Safety and Corrections Services. There Betty served as Correctional officer for 14 years. Betty met and married Houzell Knox. From this union a son was born, Ryan Knox who would forever be the star of her life. Betty was an avid shopper and enjoyed dining out. She loved movies especially comedies and suspense. Betty’s favorite hobby was collecting elephants. She had a beautiful collection from large statues to tiny figurines. Betty’s talents included cooking; She loved to prepare meal for family and friends, especially during holidays and special occasions. Betty also enjoyed interior decorating and home improvement projects, which was reflected in the beauty and serenity of her home Betty was open and honest. You always knew her stance concerning something or someone. Betty was a “tell it like it is” person. She was vibrant, funny and full of life and laughter. Betty was quite the socialite. When invited to social gatherings, Betty arrived with her infectious smile and remarkable sense of humor. Whenever Betty’s antics and expressions left those closet to her at a loss for words, they would simply say, “That’s just Betty”. Betty was Christian woman committed to her faith. She was a member of First Apostolic Faith Church. Over the years Betty served as an usher. Betty also enjoyed visiting other churches as a guest with friends. In her quest for further spiritual development, Betty attended discipleship classes at her church as well as various Christian conferences both in and out of state. Betty’s mother, Mabel Dixon; father; John Dixon; and sister, Marguerite Dixon preceded her in transitioning. On January 14, 2016, at peace with the Lord . Betty leaves to cherish her memory;: her devoted son Ryan; six sisters: Gladys Slappy, Carlester Moore, Audrey Smith, Clare (Diane) Epps, Manrise Moore, Joanne Dixon and Margie Dixon; three brothers; Larry Moore, Robbin Moore and Winston Dixon; two generations of nieces and nephews; a devoted sister friend Anita Garrett; childhood friends Arndréa and Lena; a host of extended family members and friends; and her beloved dog, Nelson.
