Bettie Snead Gamble

Bettie Snead Gamble, of Richmond, Virginia was born on April 17, 1950 to the late Earl J. and Pattie Lee Gamble. However, on June 17, 2013 the heavenly angels sent out a call and the sweet sound of peace glided a whisper into our beloved Bettie’s ear. Peacefully she transitioned to be with her departed family members – siblings, Louis, Lydia, Leona, Robert, Ruth, James, Camilla, Vivian, Earl Gamble Jr., Betinna Gamble and Johnnie G. Slay and daughter, Tammie Evette. She was baptized at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church where she accepted the Lord and stood strong in faith. Bettie started her early education at Vandevyer Catholic School and later graduated from Richmond Public Schools. She grew to become a woman with one of the biggest hearts and smiles sheltering many and loving many more. Bettie has touched the lives of family and friends in some small way throughout her sixty-three years, yet very memorable life. Bettie touched the lives of many people with her smile, generosity, and her sense of humor. Because of the wonderful love she shared, she will never be forgotten and will always be in our hearts. We are so fortunate to have had her in our lives and we feel empty without her. Bettie was a born leader, had an independent spirit and was a woman of strength. She was a lover of flowers, plants and was always the life of the party. Left to cherish her precious memories is her two loving sons, DonYel H.E. Gamble and Adrian JéVon Burgess; second mother, Lucille “mamma” Pressley; Ganny babies, Shaquille Ward, Narvel Baltimore and Jazmyne Bunn; godchildren, Sabrina Harris-Taylor (Rodney), Rashedah Caleb, Irene Sykes, Daryle Sykes and Xarviar Cooper; one brother, Edward Gamble (Gladys); two sisters, Lessie Gamble and Earlee Johnson; devoted nieces and nephews, Darlene Jackson, Earl Gamble III, Lamont Gamble, Tara Gamble and Nina Moody; a great host of cousins; several devoted friends, Charlene Taggart, Melinda Mansfield (Louis), Derenda Roach (Eric), Joan Seldon (Kenneth), Janice Jordan, Andrew and Iantha Burgess, Doris (Sonny) Robinson, Patricia Hayes, Gladys Gamble and Queen Hayes; a great host of friends, family and loved ones. _____________ Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; He will never let the righteous fall.
