Bernice "Mickey" Garfield Myree

For everthing there is a season,a time for every purpose under heaven. A Time to Be Born Everyone of us came into the world through the devine plan of an all wise God. God,who gives us form,shapes our souls in unique ways to be used to glorify and honor Him. After the new birth in Christ,He empowers our spirit with His Holy Spirit to leave this world a better place because we were born.Bernice Garfield Myree,the third of six girls of ten children,was born on April 30,1932 in Richmond,Virginia to the James Edmond Clark and Mildred Christian Clark Gardner. A Time to Live Bernice was educated in the Richmond Public Schools where she excelled in a variety of extra curricula activities which included the dramatic arts and singing. Bernice,nickname Mickey,was also a gifted pianist who wrote many songs. She spent hours at the keyboard thrilling her younger siblings with her renditions of any and all of the current rhythm and blues and pop singers of her time. She was an entrepreneur with desires to use her skills in drawing and making things with her hands to launch a career selling her wares. Many of the beautiful Christmas decorations that adorned her mother's house during the holidays were creations of Bernice. She worked at many jobs. She was a cook,nurse and cosemetologist all of which she attended various schools to become licensed in these areas. She even drove a taxi or cab as they called in those days. She knew how to earn and save a dollar. A Time to Serve Bernce,like each of her siblings,was very active in church at n early age. It was a requirement to live in the home of her dedicated ,follower of Christ mother Thus while in a church service,she heard the voice of Jesus call and she obeyed at the Sunday School of the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church on First Street in Richmond. Bernice distinguished herself at Mt. Moriah as a soloist and a member of the choir. Bernice married a tall,dark and handsome soldier. The couple was blessed to become the parents of Bobbie Garfield Myree. She traveled with her husband supporting his military career. Although the marriage dissolved,Bernice worked hard to provide Little Bobbie with the kind of upbringing she had received. She belonged to a number of church fellowships and later rededicated her life to Christ. With rededication,Bernice developed a hunger for God's Word which provided joy and strength during health problems and other issues of just living from day to day. She was a prayer warrior par excellent. She,just like her mother before her,loved to listen to Christian broadcasts on the radio. She engaged many with her biblical knowledge and attended bible studies until her health began to fail. A Time to Die Bernice really loved her LordStill,all are born to die accordingly to the scriptures. It is God who numbers our days. Bernice departed this life on Monday,August 2,2010 to enter her eternal rest with her Lord and Savior,Jesus Christ. Her brothers,Edmond,baby Horace,Raymond,Walter,Eugene and sisters Carrie and Olivia Clark and Edna Massey welcomed her after receiving God's promise of a Heavenly Home prior to her departure. She obeyed as they dis Jesus' words,I AM THE WAY,THE TRUTH,AND THE LIFE! NO MAN COMES TO THE FATHER BUT BY ME! They all desire to see you there one day to join the celebration. A Time to Mourn Bernice will be missed and held in the memory by her beloved son,Bobbie Myree,her sisters Mildred D. Clark of Richmond,and Sarah G. Miles of Hampton,VA.,one brother-in-law,James A. Miles,JR.,one sister-in-law,Wayland Clark,seven nieces,five nephews,a host of cousins,an especially devoted nurse,Brenda Newbill,and other relatives and friends for whom she loved. Bernice repeated often how much she loved her family,most especially her son,Bobbie. A Time to Rejoice Beyond this world lies the purpose of death for the saints of God who gain life everlasting in God's great and vast domain. And none need mke this journey alone;God has promised to care for His own. So today,we say Hallelujah!Hallelujah!Hallelujah! Bernice ,a mother,a grandmother,a sister,an aunt,a cousin and a friend is now absent from the body but now present with the Lord!.
