Ben Cunningham

Reverend Ben Cunningham, Jr., the son of the late Mary and Ben Cunningham Sr., departed this life suddenly on March 25, 2010. Ben received his education from the Hemingway, South Carolina, Florida and Maryland school systems. He attended Wisconsin University and Strayer University from which he was to graduate in May of this year. He was called to preach the word of God in 2000 and was the Associate Minister at Southern Baptist Church in Baltimore, Maryland and Mount Olivet Baptist Church in Petersburg, Virginia. Ben was a member of many ministries throughout his walk with the Lord and enjoyed serving in each one of them. Ben met his wife, the former Rosalind Wilkins in 1977. They were very much in love, Ben and Roz. They married in 1979 but according to Ben, they were married from the day they met. From this union they had two daughters and three sons. Ben was a man who loved the Lord and his family very much. He always had a big smile and kind words to share with others, no matter where he went. Ben did not mind giving to others for he felt that was one of his assignments in life. He would begin each prayer or sermon, with a scripture as he shared the word of God. Ben touched so many lives. His smile, wisdom, understanding, caring ways and love will be truly missed. His is survived by his beloved wife of many years, Rosalind; five children, Stacey, Tracey, Sean, William and Michael; two sisters, Annie and Saundra Cunningham, both of Baltimore; three brothers-in-law, Raymond (Anna) Brown, Adrian (Andrea) Page and Johnny (Valerie) Wilkins, all of Baltimore; two sisters-in-law, Nadine Wilkins, of Hemett, California and Elizabeth Ruff of Baltimore; mother-in-law, Gloria Wilkins of Baltimore; nine aunts, Mary Wilson of Philadelphia, Louise Goings of Baltimore, Ruthie (James) Burgess of Florida, Lilly (Zack) Scott of Florida, Elease Lewis of Hemingway, South Carolina, Emmie Burgess of Florida, Allie Burgess of New York, Annie Mae and Ann Burgess; five uncles; Willie B. (Christine), Lester (Grace) Burgess of Detroit, MI, Henry (Peggy) Burgess, Robert (Loretta) Burgess, Eugene (Rosa) and Samuel (Alice) Burgess, all of Hemingway, SC, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
