Beau A. Rice

Beau Attlee Rice, beloved youngest of 3 sons to Herbert Rice and Tillie Pretoria Smith-Rice, was born December 22, 1946. He departed this life on June 27, 2017. He received his education from Fairmount Hill Vocational High School. Shortly after he joined the U.S. Army where he studied helicopter mechanic and served in the Vietnam War. After returning from the military he married his first wife, Vernessa Rowlette, and from that union he raised five children. Beau worked for Pharmacokinetics for many years and this is where his love for the medical field began. He retired from Johns Hopkins Bayview after 20 years. Beau remarried his late wife, Catherine Brown. He loved to invent his own gadgets and do his own research. It was always full of knowledge. If he didn’t know or understand something he made sure he read books to figure it out. As a father, he was very strict but loving. You can imagine being a military dad, we were his little soldiers. He enjoyed being around family and friends because they were one in the same. He would reminisce about the old days for hours. Beau loved to have fun and he would have no problem waking his kids up in the middle of the night so that they could show him and his friends the new dances or the new moves, he was tough on us. He was always in a good mood and spirit and he wanted everyone around him to laugh. He was known for a lot, but definitely for his corny jokes. For those who knew him and enjoyed him and for those who didn’t they may have seen his name or symbol around Baltimore City. He left his mark on every transportation service he used and deep in our hearts. This man, this father, this brother, nephew, cousin and dear friend will truly be missed. Beau was preceded in death by: his mother and father, Tillie and Herbert Rice; his brother, Daniel Rice; and his loving wife, Catherine Rice. Beau leaves to rejoice his memories: his children, Attlee, Attlina, Calvin, Lanaue, Venaue, Endya and Deodria; 17 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren; his brothers, Sherlock Rice and Howard Rice; his sister, Vanessa Rice; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and dear friends.
