Barbara A. Davis

Suddenly on May 19, 2013, the trumpet sounded, and the Angels descended to take Barbara to her eternal home, for to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. BARBARA ANN CHAPMAN-DAVIS made her debut into the world on December 2, 1948. She was born to the late Gladys Lucille Brown and William Chapman Sr. Barbara was educated in the Baltimore Public School System, and was later employed at various businesses throughout the Baltimore City area. She was later united in holy matrimony to the late Johnny Davis. Barbara was first and foremost family-oriented. She loved her family, and the time she spent with them. She was devoted to her sisters and brothers, and a loving and affectionate aunt to her nieces and nephews, whom you always saw with her as they were growing up. Barbara had such a “magnetism” about her that many of her friends’ children called her Aunt Barbara as well. Barbara enjoyed life; she was fun-loving and spent quality time socializing at community events with her close friends, Faye (preceded her in death), Keda, Bootsey, DeDe, Elaine and Kay. For several years, she was an active member of the Carpetbaggers Social Club of Lafayette Projects along with her sister, Margaret and brother-in-law, Bennie. When Barbara relocated to West Baltimore, she befriended Diane Owens, who became a devoted friend, particularly when her health started to fail. Diane was by her side until the end. The character of the life Barbara lived might be summed up in these few words: she was sincere, she was loyal, she was industrious, she was self-sacrificing, and she was a great friend and confidante to those she called friend. Her passing may/will leave a void that may be difficult to fill, but you never lose what you love if you love what you lose. He was preceded in death by: five brothers, Ronald and Donald Chapman, and Roger, Reggie and Anthony McNeil; and sister, Patricia. She leaves to cherish her memory: two sisters, Margaret Ritch and Pamela McNeil; two brothers, William Chapman Jr. and Timothy McNeil; six nieces; Tanya, Demetria, Myra, Shante, Monica and Lavette; four nephews, Timothy and Stephen Reed, Randall Taylor Jr. and Reginald McNeil Jr.; and a host of other relatives and friends.
