Avon David Moulden

AVON DAVID MOULDEN, the eldest son of Avon Moulden (deceased) and Anna Catherine Stewart Moulden was born on March 30, 1955. He departed this earthly life suddenly on Saturday, May 28, 2011 at Johns Hopkins Hospital. David as he was affectionately called by his family, received his high school diploma from Baltimore City College. After graduating from City in 1973, David graduated from Baltimore City Community College with a degree in Business Management and Morgan State University with the degree in Business Administration. David utilized his education while working in numerous business opportunies such as AFLAC, American General Life, Western-Southern Life as an Insurance Agent. He also worked as an Auto Salesman for a number of years for some of the major auto dealerships in Baltimore. His savvy business talent earned him many awards as salesperson of the month and year. In addition to the awards: Rookie Incentive Winner, April 2002, American General Agent of the month July 1999, Agent of the month August 1999 American General, Koons used car Salesman of the Month January 1997. David first love was music. He began playing the guitar in his early teens. At the age 14 he played guitar with the group “The Agent”. The group was managed by Apell Jackson, band members were Leroy Lunn age 15, David Moulden age 14, Junior Johnson age 13, Leon Janee age 13, Rodney Moulden age 12, Thomas Kenndy age 12 Michael Brown age 11 and Kenneth Samuels age 10. the Agents played in various venues including most of the recreation Center in Baltimore City, City Springs Elementary School, Lombard Junior High school and St. Augustine Church. The group won a trophy for 1st prize in a talent contest at Cherry Hill Recreation Center in 1968. The AGENTS hits were “Cloud 9, “ “It’s Your Thing,” and “Check Yourself.” They also wrote their own music. The group was acknowledge in the community paper. David was an avid musician through the years, he played with numerous bands; Softones, BAD, Street Corner Symphony, First Class and Corner Pocket. David was well known for playing for in jazz Clubs such as City View, Jaspers, the Half Note and many other clubs in the Baltimore- Prince Georges County area. He also played for religious organization. The most recent was Reverend Lee Michael’s Church Manifest Wonders Christian Center. David lived teaching family members how to play the guitar. He also loved taking his family to New York to enjoy the diverse activities and to shop. David visited New York for many music venues including the David Letterman show to hear his friend Hiram Bullock play guitar with the show band. David had great concerns about Baltimore and Community issues; he attended meetings within his community and city hall to be better informed about neighborhood development and improvements. He worked with the Moulden Group, Inc. Attending community and government meetings concerning the redevelopment of a site in the Uplands Community in West Baltimore. David loved music, karate, fishing, football and his adorable grandchildren. He loved his wife and 4 beautiful children sincerely in his own way. David leaves to cherish his memory: his wife Candace Price Moulden; three daughters- Candace Arva Venus Moulden Vice, Auriel Rashad Moulden, Ayana Zari Moulden and one son- Ahmad Narada Moulden; one son-in-law Eric Vice, grandchildren, Kalief, Dion, Morgan, Ahmad, Jr. and Alex, his mother Anna Catherine Stewart Moulden, three sisters Maryann Ferguson, Michele Blackwell, Melanie Roberts (Kennesaw Georgia), five brothers, Rodney L. Moulden, Carlos R. Moulden, Peter D. Moulden, D Moulden, Dominic T. Moulden and Shawn T. Moulden, one sister-in-law, Theresa Moulden, two brother-in-law, Jerome T. Ferguson and Anthony Blackwell, many nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
