Deacon Audrey M.Ferguson To Everthing There Is a Season.......Ecclesiastes 3:1 A Time to Be Born....Audrey Mae Corbett was born February 22,1933 to Reverend Charles and Margaret Corbett in Elverton,West Virginia,the fifth of seven children. A Time to Grow........Audrey attended schools in Charleston and Dunbar,West Virginia and graduated from DuBois High School in 1951. After graduation Audrey moved to New York City and eventually to Stamford,Connecticut where she continued her studies with coursework at Norwalk Community College and was appointed to numerous public service committees by the Governor of Connecticut. A Time to Serve.......Audrey accepted Christ at an early age,and attended her father's church in West Virginia. Audrey was a devoted member of Faith Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church in Stamford,CT., for over 20 years,and retired as director of the Coleman Towers Daycare Center after 18 years of service. In 1984 Audrey moved to Richmond,VA. and joined 31st Street Baptist Church. Audrey joined Faith Community Baptist Church in 1995,becoming a Deacon in 1998. Throughout her life,Audrey served others through outreach and missionary ministries,as well as any other capacity in which she was called upon. Audrey was also an active and beloved member of the Red Hat Society-Virginia Crowns. A time to Love.......A loving mother,grandmother and great grandmother,Audrey always put her family's needs before her own,took on her children's worries and struggles and rejoiced in their accomplishments. Audrey was united in holy matrimony three times,yielding seven children. A Time to Mourn....After a lengthy illness, Audrey departed this life on May 25,2012,at VCU Medical Center,surrounded by her loving family. She leaves to cherish her memory her seven children,Brenda Henry,Candy (Robert) Newton,William "Anthony"(Jameen)Smith,Connie (William)Mangum and Cheryl(Steven)Armistead,all of Richmond,Virginia and Bernard Threadgill and Audria"Marie" (Martin) Outlaw of Bridgeport,Connecticut,her loving sister,Carrie Jones of Ivanhoe,North Carolina,17 grandchildren,28 great grandchildren,a host of nieces,nephews,other relatives,church family and friends. Audrey was preceded in death by her parents,Reverend Charles and Margaret Corbett,two sisters,Mary and Louise Corbett,her three brothers,George,James and William Corbett and one grandson,Bernard Threadgill,Jr. Just as Audrey lived her life by faith,her final words to her family will continue to guide and strengthen us: "Everybody start praying."
