Ashley Monay Cheeks

ASHLEY MONAY CHEEKS was called home by the Lord on Wednesday, May 21, 2014, surrounded by her family and friends. Ashley was born on May 7, 1983 to Willie and Betty Cheeks. On October 19, 2000, Ashley was blessed with a beautiful baby boy, Keyon A. Ford Jr., her most joyful and proudest moment. Ashley attended Lake Clifton Eastern High School where she was an active member of JROTC. She graduated from Lawrence G. Paquin High School in 2001. Ashley held many jobs after high school, however she aspired to become an early childhood care professional. This dream was brought forth after the birth of her effervescent great niece Zoe, who she often looked after. She was the true definition of a Taurus; strong-willed and loyal, but also fond of all things pretty. She loved beauty and fashion, and was known for being very well dressed. She wore all the trendy hairstyles and consistently changed her look. The only constant was her beautiful brown eyes. Ashley loved spending time with her son and her parents, who she adored. She was very family oriented. The youngest of her siblings, she was her brother and sister's baby. Ashley enjoyed hanging out with friends. She loved her neighborhood and the love was reciprocated. She will truly be missed by her community. Ashley was a natural-born superstar and began singing as a small child.She loved to perform at family gatherings and was a huge fan of R&B. You could walk into her house at anytime and hear her strong alto singing a melody. She would also write her own songs. She was not at all shy. Someone could say "sing something Ash" and she'd go right into song. It was one of her greatest passions. Ashley leaves to mourn: her son, Keyon Ford Jr.; her parents, Willie and Betty Cheeks; grandmother, Catherine Smith; two brothers, Willie Cheeks Jr. and Andre D. Cheeks; sister, Tracy D. Bell; brother-in-law, David Bell; two sister-in-laws, Marlene Cheeks and Tracey McCormick-Cheeks; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Ashley was preceded in death by her nephew Andre Cheeks Jr. in 2003. Ashley shared a special relationship with her friend and confidante, Tony Wilson, niece, Andrea Cheeks and goddaughter, Jordan Bennett.
