Arthur Thomas Mickie Sr.

OBITUARY On Friday December 29, 2023, Arthur Thomas Mickie Sr. transitioned from his earthly body to his heavenly body to be present with the Lord. Affectionately known as “Pops,” “Tuck,” “Tommy,” or Mighty Mouse,” Arthur was born on February 2, 1942, in Richmond, Virginia, and was reared in Louisa County, Virginia by his grandparents, Arthur and Ophelia Mickie. Arthur was baptized at an early age and joined St. Marks Baptist Church in Goochland, Virginia. Wise and bright beyond his years, he graduated from Louisa County Highschool at the age of 16. Arthur enlisted in the Army and fought in the Vietnam war. He was an avid traveler; a dedicated member of the Military Retirees Organization and his favorite football team was the 49ers. Arthur worked as a truck driver for Richfood, Inc. and was instrumental in helping get the company unionized. He retired in 2006 from Richfood, Inc. after 36 years of service. He retired after 25 years of service from the Army as a Sargeant. Everyone who knew Arthur felt his big heart and giving nature. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He always had words of wisdom to share with those who crossed his path. He was quick witted and funny. He was a devout Christian who lived by the verse Matthew 22:37, “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.” He worked closely beside his wife Reverend Marie Mickie in Jubilee Ministries for the last three years. Arthur was preceded in death by his daughter Juanita Mickie; his mother Inez Mickie; and grandparents Arthur and Ophelia Mickie. He truly will be missed by his devoted wife, Marie Mickie; his sister, Yvonne Grinnell; his brother-in-law’s Edward Mondrey, Oliver Mondrey, and Johnnie Whitaker; his children Arthur Mickie Jr., Iris Mangual, and Tracey Mclean; Larry Mickie, Amonte Mickie and Treavon Mickie (who he raised); bonus daughters Michelle Mickie and Kita Mickie; bonus son Alphonzo Mclean and Jose Mangual; his grandchildren, Amber, Roderick, Treaven, Jazzmenn, Troy, Syncere, and Jahlyah, Ashley, Anthony, Alexis; Great-grandchildren, Amari, Harley, Larry Jr., Aaleia, Kia, and Akeelah. Nieces and nephews; a host of cousins and loved ones.
