Arthur Burch Alexander

Arthur Burch Alexander was born February 11, 1935 to the late Arthur J. and Minnie Lee Alexander, in Bowman, Georgia. He departed this life on August 27, 2022. Arthur accepted Christ at an early age and after attending high school, Arthur joined the Army, doing tours in Germany as well as Lawton, Oklahoma. Arthur loved his time in the army and often told stories of his adventures while enlisted. While stationed in Lawton Oklahoma, he met the love of his life Barbara Jean. They married in 1957 and moved to Baltimore, Md. From this union were born 4 children, Duane, Lisa, Sheila, and Todd. Arthur was a devoted, dedicated father and husband. He loved Barbara deeply and they did everything together. True love was in effect. He was always the “go to” for anything his children needed. When they reached for him, he was right there. He was a provider and protector, in every way. He began working at Bethlehem Steel “The point” in 1959 and continued there until retirement in 1997. While there, he wore many hats to include safety compliance and union representative. He positively impacted the workplace and made many friends. Arthur loved music of all types and loved to play his records from his extensive collection. He was also very handy and loved to complete home improvement projects at home. He also loved working on his cars. After retirement his love for landscaping increased. You could find him, DAILY, landscaping his yard. He had one display that resembled the Fort McHenry Tunnel! If you were invited to his house, you received the royal treatment. Him and Barbara were very hospitable, the Memorial Day cookouts were epic! He would open with a performance, in character, that would always set the cookout on fire! He was loved by all who encountered him; respected in the neighborhood. He was always pleasant and would help neighbors with a smile. He’d also have a joke, an army story, or some type of wisdom when you were in his presence. He was preceded in death by his wife Barbara as well as his two sisters Mildred Stevens and Nellie Merritt. Arthur leaves to mourn: his children Duane (daughter-in-law, Julia), Lisa, Sheila, and Todd (daughter-in-law, Lisa L.); grandchildren, Arthur James, Michelle, Angeles, Alexis, Devin, Antoine, Brittany, Todd Jr., Lauren, Devon Miller; great grandchildren, Malik, Malachi, Micah, Mackenzie, Madison, Kamron, Mason, Malia and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
