Arthell Harris

Arthell Harris, beloved son of Lucinda Harris and the late John Walker Morris was born February 14, 1951 in Drew, Mississippi. He went to rest in the Lord on one of the most sacred days of the year. Sunday, December 25, 2011 Jesus’ Birthday (Christmas Day). He was in the place where he wanted to be with those he wanted to be with, his wife and sons. “Paul” as he was affectionately known by all, attended Drew Elementary and Hunter High School in Mississippi. At an early age, he was baptized at the East Mount Olive Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor R.C. Gallain. In 1959, Paul moved to St. Louis Missouri where he attended and completed his education at Mckinley High School. He and his family joined Southern Union Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor C.R. Madison while in St Louis. Paul continued to be raised by his mother and grandmother to know Christ as he journeyed from St. Louis to Maryland. Upon residing in Maryland, Paul met and married the love of his life, Ramona Ann Henderson, on February 14, 1985. From this union the Harris family became fruitful and began to multiply. On Sunday, March 7, 1999 after reflecting on the preached word, the blessing of two sons and faithful wife, Paul took his sons by the hand and walk to the alter to join the Bethel Nation. Paul began to be fed by this ministry under the leadership of Dr. Frank Madison Reid, III. Paul’s tenure in employment included thirty one years of work. He was employed for ten years by the Singer Link Simulation Division. At the time of his untimely passing, he was in his 21st year of service with Hughes Network Systems. He was not just seen as an employee, but was viewed by the staff and employees as a member of the Hughes family. There were many family filled moments shared at the Hughes’ picnics and outings that will be long remembered by us all. Paul was a man who believed the word of God, specifically God’s definition of a “man”. He believed that his role was to be a provider, protector, and the head of his house. He was dedicated to his work and his family, Paul enjoyed life and encouraged his family and friends to do the same. He was a family man who loved and also cared for his mother. There were some difficult days, but Paul taught us all to never give up, to forgive and to love one another. Paul leaves to celebrate his life and cherish his memory: his faithful and devoted wife, Ramona A. Harris; two sons, Leamon and Trevor Harris; two daughters, Cheryl Ford (Rochell) and Angela Kimbrough (Jimmy, son-in-law); mother, Lucinda Harris; one brother, Darius Lane; five aunts, Mary Ellen Young, Josie Ricks, Mattie Davis, Hattie Harris, Leebrider McCain; two uncles, Joe Harris and W.T. Harris; mother-in-law, Eleanora Henderson; sister-in-law, Mary A. Henderson; two brother-in-law, Emmett J. Henderson and Pervie L. Henderson; two grandchildren, Zion and Josiah; three nieces, Donna, Raven, and Emmettia; four nephews, Andre, Michael, Darius, and D’Angelo; as well as a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
