Arnetta Sue Thomas

Early, February 21, 2016 the Lord saw fit to call from labor to her reward, our beloved Arnetta Sue Timmons-Thomas. Arnetta was born in Baltimore, Maryland on June 19, 1933, to the late Bernard and Greta Timmons. Arnetta received her education in the Baltimore City Public Schools. She worked as a nursing assistant at Lutheran Hospital and Liberty Medical Center. She loved her job and saw it as her ministry and was dedicated over 33 years ensuring her patients felt comfortable. In 1955 Arnetta married Toy Thomas and they were married for 50 years. Their union was blessed with three children Valerie, Craig and Stephen. Arnetta enjoyed a special bond with her children and her step-son John. She was very proud of the their accomplishments in their faith and professional lives as they established families of their own. Arnetta accepted the Lord as her personal saviour early in her life at the of 20. Her life exemplified the “Power of A Praying Woman”. She taught many how to pray and seek God for life situations. She enjoyed serving in minstry at City of Judah where she served as the intercessor and Mother of the church. Mother Arnetta Thomas was a virtuous woman of God. She was rare and valuable and because of her appealing attributes she was a Gift from God. Arnetta managed to be the spritual mother for her family providing support, having family gatherings and special celebrations. She always provided a word of comfort and encouragement.. Mother Thomas was not only the Mother of City of Judah, she had a intercessory prayer group she prayed with every Monday. She had a prayer team she met with every Thursday. Mother Thomas enjoyed evangelism, ministering to the nursing home, women prison and loved studying the Word of God. She loved attending conferences, revival or wherever God’s Word was. Mother had a joyous laughter. She is also her pastor’s AMEN corner. Special recogniton goes to her wonderful granddaughter Melissa who was very instrumental providing her with love, comfort and personal care in her final stages of illness. Arnetta leaves to cherish her memory: one daughter, Elder Valerie Smith, (Mark Smith); one son, Pastor Craig Thomas, (Pastor Terri Thomas); Minister Stephen Thomas; eight grandchildren, Melissa, Tracy, Jamie, Rev. Kevin, Minister Joshua, Craig Jr., Sharon and Jerome; two great-grandchildren, Chloe and Elijah; two sisters, Bernice Timmons and Carolyn Timmons; a host of nieces and nephew, cousins, other relatives and friends.
