Arlene Loretta Bonner

A precious one from us is gone . . . a voice we loved is still A place is vacant in our hearts . . . that never can be filled. Our beloved Arlene Loretta Bonner, of Richmond, Virginia was born September 11, 1944 in Goochland County, Virginia to Margaret Elizabeth Willis. A wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend left her body to be present with the Lord on January 26, 2014. She was preceded in death by her mother. After Loretta graduated from Goochland County High School, she moved to Baltimore, Maryland where she lived and worked for a few years before returning to Richmond. She met her best friend and the love of her life Curtis Lee Bonner on June 28, 1969 and from that union one son, Christopher Curtis was born. She was formally employed in retail sales where she was a dedicated employee that enjoyed her time helping others and was respected by her co-workers. She was known as an amazing person that was spiritual grounded in the Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church. Her hobbies spanned from playing the piano, art, traveling by way of her extensive road trips and her leisure time was spent at various casinos playing the slot machines. Loretta was a lover of animals, especially raising and training cats. She also was a plant enthusiast that knew all about the caring of them. However, Loretta, an outgoing person loved being with family and spending her time with her husband, giving hugs and kisses to her son and having as much fun as possible. The hymns, “God our Father, We Adore Thee” and Vanessa Williams’ “Save The Best For Last” were her two favorite songs. Loretta’s bubbly personality and great smile, her intelligence and independence, her willingness to give, guide and assist others were always welcomed. And, she always had candy in the candy bowl to share with kids that visited. She leaves to cherish special memories to her loving and devoted husband, Curtis Lee Bonner; son, Christopher Curtis Bonner; two sisters, Ellen Elizabeth Taylor and Lucille C. Johnson; two brothers, James F. Green and Elward James; nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Arlene was truly a spirit of joy to many of us. We already miss her.
