Antoinette Taylor

Obituary ANTOINETTE DENISE BRIDGES-TAYLOR, affectionately called "Skee" or "Toni" by family and friends, was born on May 25, 1970 in Baltimore, Maryland to Sarah McKenzie and Benjamin Bridges. Antoinette departed this life on Sunday, April 13, 2014. Antoinette was raised by her maternal aunt Annie R. White-Mason. Antoinette attended Baltimore City Public Schools, graduating from Walbrook Senior High School in 1988. Antoinette's first job was with the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Washington, D.C., and she later became a Correctional Officer with Maryland Department of Corrections until she retired. Antoinette had an eagerness to learn and after retirement decided to further her education earning two bachelor's and two master's degrees in education from Strayer University. On August 25, 1995, the apple of Antoinette's eye was born, Joy Treasure Gibbs. Antoinette and Joy shared a special mother and daughter bond and loved each other unconditionally. On November 15, 2001, Antoinette married her love, Mark Taylor and was blessed with the pleasure of adopting a son, Joshua Carl Berry-Taylor. Antoinette's main focus was education for herself and her children. She loved her family and close friends and expanded her family by becoming a Foster Care Parent with Baptist Family. Antoinette touched the lives of many foster care children throughout the years treating them as she would her own. She had a special bond with Davon Pompey, whom she raised from six weeks old. Antoinette loved to go out to eat, play spades and enjoy time with family and friends. Antoinette leaves to celebrate her life: her husband, Mark Taylor; daughter, Joy Gibbs; son, Joshua Berry-Taylor; godson, Davon Pompey; foster children, Sonia Mboc and Kimberly Yarborough; mother, Sarah McKenzie; father, Benjamin Bridges; stepfather, Billy Griggs; mother- and father-in-law, Carol and Marvin Taylor; two sisters, Maiesha McKenzie and LaWanda Rolling; sister-in-law, Tracey Taylor; three aunts, Lillie Mae Legette, Dorothy McKenzie and Annie R. Mason-White; two uncles, Roosevelt McKenzie and Tim Bridges; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends including a special friend, Rick Goodman, who she considered the brother she never had.
